Wayback Post:TV Guidebook Parody

I'm posting it again as a Wayback post as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of my personal website, AllThingsMike. One of the "failed" sections was Komedy Komedy Komedy , created wayback in 2001. I had a scanner then and I wanted to scan in the pages of my old magazine parodies. I started making these when I was still in school, back in 9th or 10th grade, and my last "TV Guidebook" parody was made in 1977 during an unexpected bout of unemployment that lasted most of the summer. I also wrote "Goin' Crazy", a novelized version of my life up to that time during that summer. This parody was passed out to many of my friends, and is somewhat dogeared, but everyone had a good laugh. Let's see how it fares as blog fodder (again). I made a complete magazine, with ads, articles, the crossword, a fold out music ad, complete TV listings for the week, a movie column. Here are a few sample pages. You have to click these in order to read the handprinted text. Warning: There are numerous references to drug use and some language. I've self rated this entry for Basic Guidance. I was 25 when I created this. Just because the cultural references are old, well, so am I. That doesn't mean some of the jokes aren't funny. If you think the above entry was tasteless and juvenile, I admit it, it was. I was pretty young when I created just another of my many "art projects"back in 1977. Hope I didn't offend anyone. I don't condone the use of drugs, and don't like to see the word fu*k in print so forgive me because back then I didn't care. Everyone should be aware of the impact of all facets of their lives, both positive and negative. I was fired in 1977 for using drugs (hence the sudden bout of unemployment), and I eventually sobered up and became the clean shaven, er, bearded old man you see before you.

I've generally disdained the "F-bomb" whether spoken or in print. My dad inserted it in some of his poems.
However, hanging around actors and Celtic types got me inurred to it somewhat. When something IS funny -- it's funny w/ or w/o an "F-bomb", but sometimes the latter serves as emotional emphasis.
BTW: I still like the profile with that colorful plaid shirt.
