Updates to MikeVideo Section on AllThingsMike
EDIT: 11/17/06: 7:30am pst. I just changed the "rating" on this entry from "Viewer Discretion" to "Caution" as I noticed that nobody can see the entry unless they type in a credit card number, which seems a mite much. The entry isn't all that "risque". I've seen breasts on Xanga before. I wondered why I didn't get more comments on this entry. So it will stay up in "Caution" mode. Xanga says "nudity can be displayed" but in a non sexual mode. Juliana and I are completely clothed in the photo,although her breast is showing. This was right before the security guard stopped our particular photo shoot! MFN

With those words, your host MikeVideo introduces us to the hot and sexy 2000 XXX Adult Video Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those of you who ARE apalled by "explicit adult action" READ NO MORE. This Xanga blog article is RATED D Discretion Advised. The year 2001 is when I really began to immerse myself in the digital arts. Although "Selling Sex at the CES" was originally mastered to VHS videotape, like most of the MikeVideos up to that point, it was the first "long form" MikeVideo (at 30 minutes) edited solely on the computer. Before the dawn of the new century, my video editing was performed from tape to tape. My JVC SVHS recorder, purchased in 1999 with a cable that allowed it to be controlled automatically from the digital videocamera, finally "bit the dust" last month. Since the videocamera was digital, I could easily "capture" the footage into the computer, and throughout 2001 I was busy making "Selling Sex at the CES" and shorter "internet movies" like "Artviews", a tour of Huntington Library in Pasadena, and "The Music of The Renaissance Faire", using footage later incorporated into "Renaissance Day".
Early streaming video could only be used on faster computers with DSL, and I didn't even have a DSL modem at the time. When I "offered" the "internet movies" on my website, I couldn't even download and play them. The images in "Artviews" were so fuzzy that the paintings I photographed could hardly be seen. The players showed videos in little 3" wide popups that couldn't be sized to fill up the screen. I was always proclaiming that "we would all have our own television stations on the internet", yet the technology still had a long way to go. Soon after I committed "Selling Sex" to videotape in 2001, I promised myself that I would turn it into an "internet movie" as soon as the technology allowed me to make it sharp and clear on the computer screen. Over the past couple of years especially, video streaming has become quite sophisticated, and now there are thousands of people worldwide who "have their own television station" on video streaming sites like YouTube, where I have a "Director's Account" and have 18 of my videos collected onsite. It wasn't until early this year that I re-edited "Selling Sex at the CES"as a three part Windows Media File, using digital introductions and narration from 2001. I just finished rendering Part Three last week, and now I have announced this MikeVideo masterpiece on my MikeVideo Website, where I have created a Feature Page for the video.
For a limited time, the complete 3 part video is available as three separate downloads on the "Selling Sex at the CES Feature Page." I upgraded my website to a full business account last year when downloads of "Renaissance Day" caused my account to go over it's bandwidth allocation. At some point in the future, I expect to add a PayPal Donation button instead of offering these high quality videos for free, but right now interested parties can click on the "Feature Page" link and start watching the movies.
Another MikeVideo Internet Movie is "in the can". For a while there, I didn't even think I was going to ever get Part Three rendered completely, and in the end, I had to do most of the editing for Part Three in Windows Movie Maker, because my Pinnacle Studio software is being finicky. But I did it. The movie's three parts are all high quality Windows Media Files, and will play full screen with clarity and detail.
YANKED FROM YOUTUBE: "Selling Sex" is about porn. It contains footage of women with bare breasts and long legs. The porn starlets at the convention are not supposed to "bare it all", but these being porn starlets, who pose for a living, sometimes it's rather easy to goad them into showing a "bit more" than they are supposed to. "Selling Sex" is a documentary, and is not meant to be purient. People who abhor porn should not watch these videos. Children should not watch these videos.
Since I "publish" all my MikeVideos on YouTube, I wanted to make a splash with "Selling Sex". I'd already posted ambitious internet movies before, but at just over 30 minutes, "Sex" is by far my longest "internet movie". In August, I uploaded the first two segments to YouTube. I knew that a video about "sex" would get lots of hits, and would hopefully drive more visitors to my YouTube channel. The two videos were online for only three weeks. I was getting more hits and comments on the YouTube site than ever before. I gathered 23 (probably porn loving) subscribers. Then I got an email from YouTube saying that I had violated their terms of agreement. I had been censored on the internet, and YouTube removed both parts of the movie. They didn't remove the "Postcard", which doesn't show nudity. I did self rate both the videos, and of course they are still Rated R. There is actually a snippet of a "hard core" porn video over which one of the titles is overlaid, and when I made the original video in 2001 I contemplated removing it. But it stayed, as did any other nudity in the video. There is also some raunchy commentary, and cursing. I had hoped that YouTube would simply put up their "questionable content" disclaimer, but they just removed the videos. I had already seen "42nd Street Dance" removed at the behest of Warner Brotthers, who didn't like my use of Ruby Keeler dancing to a Paul McCartney tune. YouTube told me that if I violated policy one more time (strike 3) they would shut down my site. When I read the email I was at work, and I immediately went to my YouTube site, where, indeed, my "Selling Sex" videos had been removed.

Life expectancy prior to the experimental procedures they began to do in the late seventies and early eighties for children born with major anomalies... was very low. We are the lucky ones. We are also the guinea pigs. It's actually not something I have spent much time thinking of, in terms of there actually someday being a "cure," until I thought of what to write for your topic. Maybe someday it could be a reality for someone...
try dailymotion.com it's where all the banned youtubers go. youtube has been shutting down sites with increasing frequency in the last few months. it started right before they were talking with google about being bought. at least they notified you. i know users who were jsut shut down for tos violations. also- dailymotion doesn't make you break things up into small ten min sections. you might like it. i use both.

But I say if you're of age, you should be able to watch people having sex if you so desire...
I think it's a whole heckuva lot more preferable to watching graphic violence.
I don't have a problem with porn as long as it is done legally (i.e. consensual, no minors). I'm not surprised that your videos were removed, but it does bother me a great deal. Ever bit of new censorship bothers me.

I'mnot sure is "apalled" is the correct word for my feelings regarding sexually explicit material, I simply choose not to give in to the lure of that particular "vice." Plus, I tend to prefer sensual and suggestive material over explicit. :shysmile:
