SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON HERE
This weekend's "Photo Expedition" was to Long Beach to snap some of the fishes in the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. I was accompanied on my trip this past weekend by Elizabeth (The Queen of Swords) She blogs about the trip on her Sunday entry. We also took one of those harbor cruises which took about an hour and shooting from the top of the cruise ship I got some rather nice photos of the Long Beach harbor which I am featuring in the Webshots Gallery folder, "Long Beach Harbor Cruise." I should have the photos taken in the aquarium up in my Webshots Gallery sometime in the next couple of days.
While at the Aquarium, which has a rather large colleciton of Pacific Ocean life, including birds and reptiles, Elizabeth mentioned to me that she would really like an Aquarium in her house instead of a television. I have two big screen televisions at my house, and have never had an aquarium. (The cats would tend to think of it as a brunch bar anyway.) On Sunday, I spent some time "creating" some composites using some of the photographs I took inside the Aquarium. Liz, you may put any one of these in your house if they'll fit.
First, I scoured the internet for photos of aquariums, and the first image is shown here inserted into a living room. Yes, the seahorses are a bit large. In order to show some of the clarity of the actual marine life photos, I didn't shrink the fishes to "actual size". If I had a large fish tank like these, then I'd certainly want giant fish.
Here astute readers will notice the exact same photograph I featured on the blog entry on April 8th about my house, only this time Spike joins Malcolm (through the miracle of masking and pasting) and the television screen is now an aquarium. The cats are doing more than just "watching".
Not everyone has an octopus in their fish tank.
Lastly, another living room stolen from an interior decorator's site on the web, and "modified" so that I could make a place for the aquarium. Now in this photo, I actually "drew" the aquarium in the Windows Draw program, which is sort of like the CAD program I use at work to design electrical control panels. I just noticed a slight "mistake" on the image, in the upper right hand section of the fish tank, but it's too late to "fix it" now. I spent far too much time creating these images, but they came out rather neatly. And now Liz has a choice for the one she will put in her house. I like this one myself. Especially with the monster fish which eat fish food that comes in the same size bag as Alpo dog food. I should have put a bag in the image.

Are those albums on those shelves in the photograph of your house?????? Wow. You have quite the collection. Any good old blues stuff? I just saw a documentary on one of the cable channels called: Desperate Man Blues about this old guy who travels around purchasing old blues collections from people. He archives them and has his own library. He's an avid collector.
Regarding your poetry submissions, congratulations! The best way to find out about places is by going to the ones other writers you like are in. When I first started submitting, I submitted by names and other work in the site. If it was good work I tried there too. As time went on I would find other poets I admired and follow their lead. I've been submitting for so long now but I still research places and discover new ones all the time.
Through each of these sites you submit to, I also recommend you go to their links section because that is where you will find other poetry journals and magazines that resemble the one you're submitting to.

I can't stop laughing! I must say you have a way with CAD and I do like the one you drew. That set up is nice, though I tend to go for the bigger ideas ... maybe an entire acrylic wall with fish ... or as I've seen at one Petco - an archway.
But, seriously I had a great time going through Long Beach ... and my imagination is starting to go wild with what type of aquarium to get and the fish as well. I'm thinking salt water, and I found out one of the guys here at work has one himself ... so now I have someone with experience to talk this over with.
And, in July I'll be tagging along with my brother to San Francisco (which will be my FIRST visit there). Then I found out about the Monterey Bay Aquarium, so you KNOW I'll be going there. I'd be joining them at the concert, but seeing that my brother and his friends are late sleepers ... I'm sure I'll be able to sneak a quick visit on the Sunday before we leave.
Before my fish died I had it set up like Aztec ruins ... with some "pottery" scattered about. And, every time I go to Petco I browse through the aquarium section and get more ideas.

What fun, fanciful work! I adore it. I've always wanted to make an aquarium out of an old TV. I don't know if it's possible... But for those of who are graciously allowed to cohabit with cats, I don't know if it would be a wise choice! Brunch bar...:lol:

Those pictures look simply too amazing. I cannot believe the size of those fish, I have some very small one inch cichlids and thats about it, and my father has a koi pond. Wow, an octopus. You need a faster shutter speed on those pictures.

You need to do this with the windows on the exterior of houses. Then you can comment about those people down the street that are kind of fishy. This was very entertaining.
