Michael F. Nyiri
poet
I'm one of those people who like to quantify things. This week has been incredibly "busy" at work, where I'm about to head out for the last day of the week, Wonderful Friday, the end to a blistering cacophany of quotes, designs, and orders. Yesterday I sent out 7 individual quotations, finished one production drawings pack for an in house product, and tested 11 control panels. Must have been a record even for me, and this was accomplished in a ten hour day.
This morning I decided, prior to going to work, to update the "2004" page to the ElectricPoetry Website. I haven't been on the internet much this week, and was apalled to see (even though I know not too many people besides me visit my own website) that I hadn't updated the page since August. I've written 52 poems so far this year. That is a record of sorts as well.
In this decade, the year 2000 saw 21 pieces. In the 90s, the year 1992 saw 21 pieces. For the 80s, 1983 saw 35 poems, the best year before this year in a long time. In the 70s I have to go back to 1978 where I wrote 67 poems, which beats 2004, but then, 2004 is not over yet.
Of course, the best year of all is still 1971, with 134 poems. That was my senior year in high school, when I found my muse. (Although I'd been writing for four years by that point.) I am truly amazed by my output this year, the 51st of my existence in this plane of existence on Planet Earth.
I have two or three poems "in my head" at this moment, and I'm always planning more and more themes. I have to end this entry now, as I look to the little clock at the right of the computer screen, because it's past time to go to work, where I have to top myself again, and get out more quotes, test more panels, and complete more drawing packets.
I think I'll sleep through this weekend! Ciao.
