  • Weather Report: Magnificent Cloudscapes

I’m almost ready to create my next MikeVideo Internet Movie. It’s a sequel to Cloudscaping, from 2008, only with all new widescreen, Hi Def cloudscape images shot since the first video was made. With original music by special guest artist, Xanga’s own Dent (@Relic47). It’s 10-11-12, we had a slight rain here in SoCal, and I shot the following photos commencing at sunset tonight. Some of them will be included in the new movie. Enjoy.

Sunset . 10-11-12 (Happy Sequential Number Day to you all.)

These photos are chronological, and the later ones are shot with a sunset filter.

Somehow I’m envisioning people or animals perhaps sitting around the setting sun.

Nice that there’s a brick wall topped with barbed wire right across the street. That way I can get “signature” barbed wire shots anytime the sky looks like this.

My back yard. The bouganvillea frames the right hand side of the photo, and the brush cherry trees are on the left.

I was out for about an hour all told, and some other park residents on our street began to come out, with cameras, to see the show, which I always love to call “God’s Movie”, this time with lots of neat cloudscapes, photo ready to add to my new internet movie!

A bit of pink. Not a lot, but enough for magnificence.

This little white cloud, reflecting the sunlight coming from the other way, is framed by the clouds behind him. Just a few patches of blue in this direction.

Here is the original internet movie. This one, from 2008, features music played on the guitar by then Xangan Randy Van Otterloo (@flatpick46).

silly The photographs are mine, but I thank the Almighty and Mother Nature for the show. As always. (And just last week I told you summer was still around. It’s left for a while, but is supposed to come back next week.)

  • Looks great. There’s some real brooding mood in those last few photos.

  • I can’t watch the video, but what fantastic shots! I love the barbed wire signature images.

  • I missed the fact that today was consequential day (10-11-12) I will start to look forward towards 12-12-12 day too now.

  • @Relic47 - Dent, I love that you mention mood in the photos themselves. Now that I’ve matched Moon in the Water to this project, I’m going through the other tunes on your playlist. As I’ve been getting myself more familiar with the FrenzElectric catalog, I’m beginning to think of particular photos to match the mood of the music. (Soon I’ll have to start taking notes, the inspiration is filling me so much.) This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

@BoulderChristina - Christina, It’s a Youtube embedded clip. TRY THIS from Xanga. I just hope someday I don’t break my neck trying to get the right shot. (or slice myself into little pieces, in this particular instance.)

  • Was there a storm brewing?

  • Stunning clouds! Love moody skies, images.

  • Amazing cloudscape, the music is fitting. Xanga definitely have some real talented people.

  • @baldmike2004 - Thank you Michael. A lot of my compositions are responses to environmental situations. Like with the Black Beach suite whence “Moon in the Water” cometh. Moon in the Water is also a Bushido concept relating to the stillness of the soul during intense meditation or martial arts training.

  • Nice pics.  I’ve always loved watching clouds, there is something very soothing about it.  UNFORTUNATELY, I was in the zone in which we received a bit of flash flood last night, and people suddenly forgot how to drive.

  • Very pretty ! I love taking pictures of clouds before, during and after a storm. They are SO amazing ! The bigger the storm the better, too. I have a few funnel cloud pictures, seuquential, from the funnel formed, and came down, then went back up again without really touching the ground.

Raining cats and dogs here but it started Wayyyyyyyy early this morning so I didn’t get a chance to get pictures, boo.Have a lovely weekend!

  • Some of the pics looks a little foreboding. barbed wire around your place? Is there something you’re not telling us? Nice photos.

  • Beautiful shots. I like the barbed wire and the way it draws the eye and stands out against the brighter sky. Also I like the palm trees. I love palm trees, and we do not have them here in Jersey, so I am always thrilled when I get to see them. :)
