PhotoPost: Monochrome Photos
Today, I am attempting some photo art, using my cloudscapes, only in grayscale. The full size versions of these works can be accessed by clicking on the photo. The first image began as a color cloudscape taken outside my house early last year. I converted the photo to grayscale, adjusted the darkness levels in the dark parts of the clouds, and texturized the trees in the foreground.
Second work is another color cloudscape, converted to grayscale with contrast and brightness levels adjusted. I also used some of the "effects" in the Picture Publisher to soften the image.
I'm pretty proud of this one. It's the first I tried today, and looks rather interesting, I think. The photo was from a digital video taken at Disneyland in December 2001. The photo was converted to grayscale, and I used some of the effects in the Picture Publisher to add detail to the building, texturize the clouds, and I added a lens flare to the bright spot in the clouds.
The original photo was part of the series posted on January 12th, taken after the rains finally left. Again, the picture has been converted to grayscale, and contrast and brightness levels have been adjusted.
Another shot taken at Disneyland in 2001, this is the entrance to Tomorrowland, The photo was given a blue tint, and some lighting effects were utilized to add contrast to the sculpture.
This photo has not been tweaked at all. It began life as a video taken off the coast of Palos Verdes in 1999. I was shooting under the sun, and although the photo looks to be in black and white, it is not. It looked like it belonged in this set of art photos, even though there are no clouds to speak of.
Lastly, this is the latest ElectricPoetry Group photo, in the same style, also from one of my cloudscapes, this one taken from the top of Signal Hill.
