Latest News From AllThingsMike
I’ve been at work for three days, but since it hasn’t been busy at all, I’ve been able to “roll with the flow” of circumstance pretty well. The “sharp, searing, pins and needles” pain has subsided, and has been replaced by a throbbing achy kind of pain in my left shoulder. My left arm has still lost most of the feeling in it, and this morning I go into the nerve specialist to get the NCS test. I have been sleeping better, and haven’t used the heating pad or the “Sports Ice” treatment for a couple of days. I can turn my head pretty well, and only if I ”forget” for a moment that I still am suffering from a pinched nerve, I might relax too much, turn the wrong way, and the searing pain slices through me like a knife. (A rather large knife at that.) I wanted to download some Olympic images last night from my Tivo, but Cancerboy had his chemo therapy Wednesday, so took Thursday off. I didn’t even watch any of the Olympics last night, and told Joel I didn’t care if he switched the channel.
The image series only includes Justin Gatlin (100meter gold) and Courtney Kupets (Uneven bars bronze) right now, with plans for some of the athletes competing in the past week. I intend to put the images from the Tivo, which will be layered, into the plate image (right) I created a few weeks ago. Instead of the Greek discus thrower, the image of the athlete will take up the center of the plate, sort of like a “cameo” image in jewelry. I hope the Tivo hasn’t accidentally deleted any of the footage I’m using for the stills in the past few days. The two images I created already are not that good, but at least let my creative side see that what I’m visualizing is attainable. Too bad I didn’t think of this while the swimming was on (well, too bad I didn’t realize I could get the images into my camera that easily, as I did think of creating the image series prior to actually recording anything.) as I don’t have any Tivo’d images of Michael Phelps. I do, however, have the soft porn victory tussle of the USA Women’s Beach Volleyball team recorded for posterity.
This weekend, time, weather, and lack of pain permitting, I might journey up to Hollywood for a photographic expedition called “Behind the Glitter”. I haven’t been out there for a while, and never with a camera, so I could get some neat results. I notice that my webshots gallery for my “Boops in the Bedroom” is still the number one folder people visit and download from on my Webshots Gallery. I was hoping I’d get lots of hits for the Small Town America series but for some reason people really like looking at the Boop Museum.
Perhaps this weekend, I’ll attempt to see how I can get some more “readers” to come over here and comment on my Xanga. I really like this program, it’s easy to post from anywhere, and the HTML tweaking isn’t perfect, but works for my limited experience pretty well. I visit some “Xanga” sites with over 10 comments a day, and wonder how these sites get so popular. I’ve got a mix here of five major sections of my website, and I’m still trying to gain readership, as I have always been trying with the complete AllThingsMike website. I seem to have a half a dozen “regulars” and for this I am happy and satisfied. I also try to make sure I’m commenting on the blogs I read, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time to catch them all. That’s why it’s great that the blogs are arranged as ”pages” so I can just filp back a few “pages” to find entries on anyone’s blog I have missed. I just hope the people who see this part of the site take the time to maneuver through the rest of AllThingsMike. For photo nuts, the Webshots gallery has almost 1500 photos. For poetry fans, ElectricPoetry has at least 400 of my poems posted chronologically. And plans are afoot, as mentioned in the post below, to expand the “jukebox listing”, and add some more options for eclectic music to listen to while on site.
Well, that’s enough for this ramble, colliding words together on a Friday morning while I’m supposed to be working. Looks to be a good day, and I’m glad the pain is receding in the distance, so my mind can operate a little freer and with less concentration on painfulness. I see the nerve specialist in a couple of hours.

I hope you start feeling better. The best way to get a large audience on xanga is to comment frequently on other people. I get roughly 50 comments daily and around 300 to 400 hits a day.
:wave:Hey Mike…really nice to hear that your pain has decreased somewhat lately…I hope you do get out of doors tomorrow…will be good to do your normal activities for a change…I being somewhat of an ex-athelete myself have been wrapped up in the olympic occasion here…

my opinion Mike…people have limited time…choose a subject or forum and make it work length wise….
