Just some text tonight. (EDIT: 7/24 1:23am. Actually, haven't posted anything tonight either (except, of course, this), funny I wrote "text" instead of mentioning I wasn't going to post any graphics. I don't even remember writing this. Tonight I went to bed at 5:00pm (And it's Friday!) And then got up again at 10:30pm. So what was late last night is early tonight, since I don't have to go into work (or court) tomorrow. (This is pretty good, the EDIT is almost as long as the original post, and this is the third embedded parenthesis) ) It's past 10:30pm as I write. I am on a panel. ( Panel being a jury panel. Since I make electrical control panels for a living, it's neat to go into work this morning and say, "I'm on a panel.") I knew I would be. Impartialtiy and honesty must be written all over my face. I get to "go to work" tomorrow, because the judge does something on Fridays. Anyway, I'm on a civil trial (I can't talk about it of course) and I'm "in for" at least 15 days. Last time they told me that was the one month trial. I couldn't get "off". I'm not biased or prejuduced enough. I'm too FAIR!!
Ohmigod! Well, I'm taking the Clinton book in to the court with me. (In answer to Periculosus_Z the Amazon ad for "My Life" is below. Upon leaving the courthouse I chatted up a fellow juror over the book.) I'll be finished in no time. (I said, "After this trial, I'll probably know Clinton pretty intimately." To which she replied without a beat, "Why would any one want to?" I told her I'm a Democrat, but since the book is a bestseller, there's a lot of people who are interested in reading this. I didn't think he was a very good writer, however, which slows the book down some, (It's over 900 pages in hardback.) She told me to give her updates so she can decide whether or not to read it. (She's a Republican.) Nothing more patriotic and symbolic about this country as Juror 11 and 12 exit the courthouse discussing diametrically opposed viewpoints. Juror 13 is an elderly gentleman who tells me stories about narrowly missing any combat in WWII (still in the army when Pearl Harbor happened after four years and ready to get out, he travels around American Air Bases prepping airplanes but never goes overseas. Each time his unit is called, the trip is postponed, first for VE Day, and then VJ Day. I love the experience of being on a Jury because of the people you meet, and by the end of the bloody mess you've made some new friends. The last time was a real bloody mess, where half the Jury thought the guy was guilty, and you can never change their minds in a rape case. Half thought there was a reasonable enough doubt that the act was consensual. Plus the gal seems to have "done this before" which was evidence which wasn't entered and we weren't supposed to "know about it". No one was going to change their mind, but each time we emerged, proclaiming we were "hung", which happened three times over a week, the Judge would send us back in to deliberate. Tempers were starting to flare a bit. Most of us were starting to get in trouble at work. Finally the Judge realized that we wouldn't agree. This sort of got me thinking that the process does truly reflect this country. No can can agree on anything, and there's not much compromise, but we're all friends at first. 
This is going to be another "adventure". (And a Jury is a nice change of pace for a while, if it isn't "too long" like that last one!)) (There, I believe I've now closed all the parentheses. And the EDIT is far longer than the post. Oh Well. I felt like writing tonight. Cya.)
