As part of the Silver Lake Steps Project, Videoblog #8 takes the viewer along with our host on a hiking tour of the historic public staircases in the Silver Lake district. We're there as Mike prepares for the trip, drives the freeways of L.A. to his desitnation, and then we get to come along on hikes up the Music Box, Micheltorena, and Cove steps. Shot on April 26th and completely assembled and edited during the rest of the 26th and the morning of the 27th, Mike's Video Blog #8 is original in that it doesn't include any outside music sources. (Except for the "Mike's Video Blog Theme" sung by Mike) Original cut was 17 minutes long and included two more staircases, and a drive up Micheltorena.

Oh great video Mike, Judi
what a cool way to work out! i have a long lost cousin that i reconnected with this fall who lives in Canyon City...i hope to visit her this fall!
What a nice hike! I would never have made it not now a days anyway. I used to enjoy walking and hiking but those days are gone. So thanks for sharing your adventure on the Silver Lake steps. The little known and hidden treasures of our beautiful area.
nice one would you be my freind
Just came up from exercising and get to watch you climb stairs.
It actually makes me want to visit and climb them, too. I'd be huffing and puffing right along with you, but I think I'd enjoy it. It looks like you had some great views, sometimes right on the stairways themselves.
This also makes me want to go out and do some video blogging. We'll see.
walking up all those stairs is a better than using those stairmaster whatchamacallit. a good exercise for those lungs.
other than singing while surfing xanga, that is.
The area and your photography of it are beautiful. Those stairs would probably kill me.
Lol, you have to do some exercises for this one Mike:) The idea is great, I bet there are interesting stairs here in Cape Town as well...I might just go and explore.
.....I hope you remembered your sun tan lotion.
i think you got your workout on that day
why is silver lake dry? is it just no rain and heat or did they drain it for more places to build stuff?
@NightlyDreams - Dear Leigh Ann, It's a fresh water reservoir which has been used for drinking water, but recently a study found carcinogens, so they drained it. I understand it will be filled again, but not for drinking water. It really looks nice when it looks like a lake!
