The L.A. Auto Show 2012 Preview
Back in the long ago during the previous century, I attended the 1995 Los Angeles Auto Show and saw my first Mistubishi Eclipse.
I fell in love. It took another four years, but in 2000 I bought a 1999 Eclipse Spyder convertible, the love of my life. She lasted eleven long wonderful years, filled with seemingly planned obsolescence, brutal neighborly abuse, and eventual owner neglect.
The rain has stopped. The night is clear. It's time again for the L.A. Auto Show, 2012 edition.
Perhaps I will spy my next car. (Calm down, Mock Evo, I'm not tired of you yet!)
I'm looking for the future. I call myself a Chevy man, as opposed to a Ford man, I guess this is something only a boomer could relate to. Weird that I've owned a Ford (1961 T Bird) but I've never (really) owned a Chevy. (My first car, a 1960 Chevy Brookwood station wagon, which I drove during my junior year of HS, before I "graduated" to the car I actually bought as my first car, a 1965 Dodge Dart GT, was the family car and not one I purchased with my own money.) I want a Camaro. I've always wanted a Camaro. I want to show you the majesty of the 2013 Camaro.
This is my next car.
It's great to be in love. The 2013 Chevy Camaro.
(Convertible, of course.)
Photos up close and personal will be provided from the L.A. Auto Show as soon as I get to it, possibly tomorrow, perhaps next week. (Weather permitting, of course.)

Just too bad that there couldn't be a retro styled Firebird to sit next to the Camaro, huh? I want a Fiat 500 when I see them, but I recall the issues that continually plagued my Fiat Strada, and I wonder if they are still like those were. I still get a kick out of small cars going fast. Right now I own a 2009 Toyota Yaris sedan with a 5-speed. Never would have bought it with an auto. It's underpowered and gets about 28 mpg city with my foot through the floor, which is lousy compared to the old 1500 cc engine in my Tercel, that got 35 city, beating the daylights outta it. The Yaris motor is also 1500 cc, but not as peppy and not as good of mileage. That's the problem when something gets improved... it really isn't an improvement. I do have antilocks now though, and I consider them the best safety feature in the past 50 years.
Thanks for the pix. All are great looking cars. I've had various car makes, including Chevies, Subaru (at time sold by Chevy dealership), Pontiac, VW, Buick. Right now I have 2001 Mazda Protege & I understand they are aligned with Ford. I never thought I'd be interested in a Ford ("Fix Or Repair Daily" or "Found On Road Dead")
, but some of the 2012-2013's I might consider IF I decide I want to trade the Mazda. I was told by someone who supposedly knows cars that I should get 10 more years out of it. Well, at my age & not knowing how long I'll be driving, and because I paid it off some years ago, may be better off keeping it. Be looking for your take on Auto Show.
