Naked Again: Baldmike 2011
Posted:May 1st is coming up. That's my birthday. I'm "only" 58 years old this time. Coming right up is Memorial Day, my "Xangaversary Day", and this Memorial Day I'll have been on Xanga for SEVEN YEARS!. So, my friends, what better time to advertise the fact (in my birthday suit of course) that I'm always "Nakedly Honest" on my Xanga Blog. (It might be noted that this is my first naked pose with the naked chin, too! And for the Xangan who posted the "secret" about using my last naked pose as your screensaver, here's a new screensaver, baby!)
Baldmike2004: Not Just Another Xanga Blog
Nakedly Honest for Seven Years.WhenWordsCollide is, like it's title, a bombardment of words (and images) designed to keep the reader/viewer constantly entertained. Even when I'm posting sporadically, or not posting at all, during one of my many "hiatuses", the various links I supply in my entries and articles, and the many linked graphics on the sidebar, plus the main header link to the center of the AllThingsMike Universe, of which my blog is only a part, will send the visitor to a virtual universe of entertainment.
Like Disneyland, the early television show designed by Walt Disney to showcase the various lands in his Anaheim theme park, WhenWordsCollide is a compendium and updating of the many "lands" in the AllThingsMike website. Here are some of the "regular features" which pop up from time to time on WhenWordsCollide.
PhotoPosts: I've been an avid photographer ever since I picked up my mother's brownie camera when I was a kid. Although I never really had good cameras during my youth and young adulthood, I did begin to purchase better cameras during the digital age, and since 2004, when I got the first one, I've gathered and posted over 8000 photos online in my Webshots Galleries. Not merely a collection of images, my blog Photoposts are travelogues rich in information and personal observation, during my "trips around town". These are among the most popular of the features on WhenWordsCollide.
ElectricPoetry Posts: The reason why I created my webuniverse in the first place was so I could have a "place" to keep all my archived poems, and a place to showcase my current work. ElectricPoetry was the first "spinoff website" to AllThingsMike, and contains almost forty years of poetry, arranged chronologically. The ElectricPoetry Posts on the blog are usually themed in some way, and I always provide a bit of the story "Behind the Poetry". I still haven't even uploaded copies of all my archived work online, and as long as I live, I will call myself, poet, philosopher, fool, a chronicler of the human condition, with all it's warts and wonders.
MikeVideo Posts and Mike's Video Blog Posts: The "MikeVideo" brand of entertainment is over 20 years old. Since I got my first videocamera, years before I got the first good still camera, I've been assembling custom videos quite unlike anything else being done with the medium. And this was decades before YouTube. Even my "Mike's Video Blogs" are somewhat "professionally" put together. I take great pains to edit these videos so that they are not only entertaining, but sometimes spiritually uplifting, and sometimes just plain humorous and self deprecating. There is a complete history of and examples of my work on the MikeVideo website, and I always present my new videos first on Xanga, with Director's Commentary explaining why and how I created the video.
Serialized Novels and Reminiscences: You can find "My Sexual History", The "Operations" series, "My Life With Pat", "The Frat House", and my autobiography, "Childhood in Los Angeles" on my blog. I post chapters as I write them, with links to all the other chapters in the series. AllThingsMike is the repository for my personal history, and slowly but surely, all the parts of that history are being written and posted online. I call my website not only "an electronic experiment in art" but my "electronic life online". When writing my life, I am truly "nakedly honest." I always attempt not to give Too Much Information, but try to be as discreet as possible while appealing to as wide a reading audience as possible.
Yes, But Is It Art? Calling myself a "failed artist" throughout most of my life, it was the internet which fueled the fires of my creativity, finally causing me to remove the word "failed" from my title. My composites grace the pages of my Betty Boop site, and the Composite section of the Yes, But Is It Art? Gallery, where I showcase my art online. When I put a new piece online, it is almost always here on WhenWordsCollide. Sometimes I prove I can actually draw.
The Universal Blog: I was given the first of quite a few epiphanies when I was still in junior high. I left the Baptist church and have followed my own spirit ever since, believing in a universal mind which encompasses all the past, present, and future souls collected in eternity. I "preach" about the "great news" which tells us we don't have to worry, or wonder about the meaning of our existence anymore. I usually have more Universal Blog articles here on WhenWordsCollide than I do on the Universal Blogsite itself.
News And Notes: I wrote a weekly column for our high school newspaper when I edited in 70 and 71. It was humorous, witty, and informative at the same time. On my blog, my News and Notes columns gather together my thoughts about current events, in "This Just In", coupled with the details of my personal life. When something major is going on in my life, I chronicle it online here and in special entries. I also sporadically update my series "The Voice of Reason", my take on pressing issues of the day.
Groups and Blogrings: A lot of what I provide on my blog is stuff I wrote years or even decades ago. But a lot of my writing is done for the particpatory blogrings on Xanga, including Featured Content For Grownups, Kween of the Queens, Socrates Cafe, and my own Internet Island which I resurrect from time to time. Most times this blog has graced the "Featued" pages of Xanga is during my particpation in one of these blogring topics.
WhenWordsCollide has been providing a mix of poetry, prose, high quality images, along with optimism, hope, and bright blue skies filled with fluffy clouds for SEVEN years come this Memorial Day. Help me to continue with this effort by subscribing, reading, watching, viewing, and communicating through comments, messages, and recommends. As it says in the header at the top of this blog, "The personal and universal feelings, thoughts, and observations of Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool." I am only one man, nakedly honest about himself and his place in his existence. I am continually finding and losing people, and then finding new people. I wish to look humanity in the face and reflect for him/her the fears, fallacies, successes and failures inherent in his/her existence. I'm a writer and artist whose blog is part of his medium. As it says in my sidebar: I am a writer, and this is my notebook. Read me, and read along with me as I provide you with my naked observations.....etc.

You are very well preserved and you juggle very skillfully as i can see and on one leg! Not many people have four arms. Lucky you! That is the spirit! Happy birthday Mike.

I have always been a huge fan of the bloggers who lay it all out there on the table. Thanks for providing a chuckle this morning and Happy Birthday a couple of days early.

LOL, the picture is way to naked truth for me to Mike!! Congrats with your birthday...may the next seven years on Xanga be even better.
I've said it before and I will say it again, you're the most under-appreciated Xangan out there.
Cool photo, love it!
Cool picture
You spend a lot of time sharing your wisdom with the people. I wish more people are like you, because the world will be a better place if more people use their brains and put their talents to good use.
I like your God like photo... it's very Michael, eccentric and witty.
Happy early BirthdayHappy 7 year Anniversary with Xanga. I LOVE the picture, you are too funny. Thanks for the laughs.
Hello Mike. Happy Birthday. Thank for sharing with us for the past seven years. I would use the pic as a screensaver but there are kids in the family who use my computer. Might be too much for the teenage girls. I would hate for them to fall in love so young. LOL
Hope you have a great birthday and a wonderful next 7 years here on Xanga.
Kat
