I'm getting ready to present a new MikeVideo Internet Movie in a few weeks, called "Kaleidoscope". A lot of you might not know about my earlier videos, so in preparation for the "world premiere" of Kaleidoscope, I'm presenting a MikeVideo from 2007, Floral Dreams.

(May 2007) This is one of the "Dreams" series of art videos. Flowers and plants photographed, and taped at different botanical gardens across the South bay, including the Huntington, the Getty, and the South Coast Botanical gardens, and arranged to the Celtic music of Steeleye Span, with vocalist Maddy Prior. I've always loved flowers, and my very first job was as a manager for a Garden department for a retail chain. The attempt is to mix the video and the photographs using layering and effects so that the viewer can't tell the difference, and the overall effect is somewhat soothing. This was only the second video I made using Sony Vegas video editing software, and it was made in one day. (Photography was shot over a four year period.)The chroma key effects pioneered in "Clowns" are much more sophisticated in this video, which also uses the title animation feature in the Vegas software..

I've been making videos since before YouTube or the internet existed. A sampling can be found on my MikeVideo website, my MikeVideo YouTube Channel and my Xanga Video Section.

  • Excellent video...plus I am a sucker for Celtic Music. The sounds and the flowers set your mind to drifting and you really hate to see it end.

  • Looking forward to the kaleidoscope

  • Neat video and effects, liked the celtic music too!

  • You make such great videos! Love the music...so soothing. Love the flowers! I'm gonna' check out your links. You do the most creative posts, Mike! Thank you for that! And thanks for putting up with my not so creative posts.
    HUGS and Happy Weekend!

  • Very impressive, Mike, for your creative side is truly "kaleidoscopic". Where you were gathering all of your footage there reminds me of the Cincinnati's conservatory back home--beautiful place it is.

  • Good work, this has kind of a Bollywood flare to it.

As usual a wonderfully creative video.  The flowers were gorgeous and made me want to rush out to California.  Perhaps one day I will visit all of the places you filmed.  Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us.

  • It really shows that you're inlove with flowers, the BG sound is hypnotizing, as if bringing you in the world of flowers.
