  • ElectricPoetry Post: New updates to ElectricPoetry

    ElectricPoetry Banner 30

May of 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of my AllThingsMike website. Section by section, I intend to update the complete website by that time. After a long absence updating anything except the blog, owing to the problems I had with ftp after moving my complete site to another server in August, I am in the midst of a whirl of activity right now.

Each Decades page and most of the Year pages on the ElectricPoetry website have been updated. New transcriptioins have been added to 1981 and 1983. There are only a dozen or so poems to transcribe and then all of the Eighties poetry will be fully posted on the internet. Some new transcriptions have also been added to the Nineties section completing all poetry for that decade.

I’ve also added links to all the Poetry of 2008 written so far this year and added a new link to the blog’s ElectricPoetry Themed Posts. (like this one) The previous passage appears on the main page of AllThingsMike and was posted this past weekend after I did all the work. All in all, I updated or uploaded over 50 webpages. My server’s bandwidth got a real workout.

Following are some of the new transcriptions to the ElectricPoetry website.

    “Poetry Returns”
    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
    Thursday, May 28, 1981 12:00 noon

I’m sitting at my table basking in the
undying glory that all of a sudden
I do not seem stifled and words
are coming out – maybe the wrong
ones – maybe they don’t make sense
yet – but I feel like maybe
all the unfettered poetic sense in
    me shall ejaculate all over
the printed page and I finally
feel at rest – The Creator is
    creating

    when

I hear the unmistakable sound of
a Vdub and sure enough you pull
up outside and I see you
    and for me
    that’s enough

    I could wave
    I could say hi

    but I don’t want to
I want you to know that just
    me sensing your presence
caused my heart to race a
    little faster.
And now as you read this
    you might be able to
read my feelings as I’m writing.

You are out of the car, upstairs,
    downstairs, back in a moment.
    I don’t catch your eye.

    And I feel
    all of a sudden
    I don’t need to.

For me that’s a positive feeling
for me Poetry is a positive feeling.

You showed me a little book
On a printed page I read

“It is much easier to ride a
horse in the direction he’s going.”

    I understand that
    I try to do that
I’ve succeeded and I hope the
    horse succeeds with me.

“Try” is not a bad word
One should never feel one has
accomplished all there is to accomplish

There are always new days ahead
And new pages in life’s little
    book to be turned.

We are the answers to our
    questions
We only need to communicate our fears.

    “Ago, Now”
    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
    May 31, 1981 9:35 p.m.

I remember when things were easier
You can also remember, my friend
We counted our days in inspired erratic ways
Never thinking for a moment it would end.

I didn’t know then I would meet you now
    I didn’t care what I would feel
It’s hard to relate and I shake with elate
That I found out and you became real

    You are a poetess
    Your words are your poems
Your feelings, your gestures, your life
    I feel for you happy
    I feel you as one
And I hope that you never have strife

I remember when things were simpler
You can also remember, my friend
    We experienced samedays
    but in divergent different ways
And now I want to experience
    the love that you send

    “Daybreak Time”
    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
    Thursday, May 31, 1981 9:35 p.m.

    It’s morning now
    I feel good
    The sad flew down the
    stairway with the 20″ fan
I’ll never throw my life away

I lock out my own privacy
    And kick in my door
    I’m not sorry
    For what I do
    When I feel intensities strike

Look at me as I speak
    Gaze into my eyes
    I’ve felt what you feel
I’m just not afraid to express it.

    Been out here all night
    You say I should stop
    And straighten up my life

    I’ll agree

    Destruction

    Affection

    I love you all.

    “Lesson in Communication”
    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

    January 20, 1983 8:00 p.m.

When I relate my massive musings
    Scatter tales to test misgivings
Only wish that words which mean
Less than the words I’m using
    Used to mean.

I only want to say let’s get together
    Let hearts which beat erratic
    beat in tune
Please tell me if our spare sprite thoughts
    Are even in this moment
    opportune.

    If i would only laugh
and point the way to coupled bliss
    Erase confusion with
    One thought provoking kiss
    Might come to this

Poems sung at midnight let the
    songs be heard anew
Please tell me if my spare sprite
    thoughts
Might give me cause to think of you.

    “Untitled”
    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
    April 2, 1992 6:22 p.m.

    I’m feeling
    like I’m feeling
    And I don’t know what I’m feeling

    But I’m feeling so good
    Here with you

    I’m smiling
    Yes I’m smiling
And I do know why I’m smiling

    Cause I’m smiling so much
    Here with you

    You know, I love you
    With a passion
    Filled with force
    So strong, my heart
    Is ripped apart

    Let endings be like endings
    let us
    forge a brand new start.

    “The Bad Guy”
    poetry by Michael F. Nyiri
    October 11, 1992 1:49 p.m.

I’m shaking like a windblown leaf
    Shivering with pain.
Head aching like a searing poker
has been pushed through my brain

“I’m not the Bad Guy” you scream
And I never believed you were
But if you want to leave
    Then I do too.

    I liked my life
    I had no regrets
And what regrets I’ve had in my life with you
    I’ve learned to cover up.
I’ve learned to cope with you.

Well maybe I haven’t learned enough
As you close the door behind you.

BEHIND THE POETRY: “Poetry Returns” and “Ago, Now” were written in 1981 about about Melanie, an old girlfriend who was into est and other life affirming practices. “Daybreak Time” just brought back the memory of it’s subject, when I transcribed it this past weekend. It’s a nakedly honest assessment of my drunken behavior at the time, right after I threw a box fan down the apartment stairs and locked myself out of my apartment for some crazy reason. “Lesson in Communication” from 1983 is probably the best of this bunch in structure. 1992′s “Untitled” and “The Bad Guy” were written about Pat, I transcribed a few more poems I wrote when I was with her and they can be accessed from the 1992 page but they were too depressing to post on the blog. • Good luck prepping for the big anniversary!

  • Me loves the bad guy

  • My favorite is Daybreak Time… you sounded so sad over on my comment you left me that I had to come and see what you posted that only got you two comments! Poetry! Damn poetry will do it to you every time! :p I also really like the last line of the first poem a lot…

  • All good and thought provoking poetry.

ryc: I checked out your links, and I did enjoy them.  Thanks.

  • I like “Untitled” the best. Sometimes it’s hard to title a poem. Usually it is the most challenging part of writing a poem for me.

  • i think poetry exists in all of us but some can actually get it out on paper….

  • Thanks for the visit and comment, Mike. Shows you actually read the post. Also, same good Holiday wishes back to you.

Sorry, it’s taking me so long to get around to reading. I don’t know what to lay that off on. I’m not shopping that much and haven’t even started on Christmas decorations.

Your poetry is so brilliant, it’s hard to find words to do them justice. :goodjob:

One of these days . . . I may post some of my past poetry, but most of it is in a box under my bed & it’ll take time to go through it.

    ~~Blessings ‘n cheers :)
