Mike's Extreme Makeover Part 3
Mike's Video Blog 9.3: Mike's Extreme Makeover Part 3. 10min. 13sec. 512kbps. The third part of Mike's Extreme Makeover concludes when a new Mike moves in.
Previous Webisodes:
PART ONE; After Joel's death, Mike has to decide whether to stay in his house and find a roommate, or begin searching for a new place to live.
PART TWO: Plans are made to move furniture, and then Mike vacuums and cleans the carpets.
DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY: Here, finally, is the third part of my latest series of Mike's Video Blogs: Mike's Extreme Makeover Part 3! This webisode begins on August 8th, the Friday I cleaned the carpet. and brings us up to August 26th, when my new roommate moved everything except his refrigerator into the house. I just noticed a mistake in the dates. There is a title card which reads "August 9th" but the footage was shot on August 10th.
I did intend to finish this webisode earlier, and I fully expected the place to be ready for it's closeup by now, but there are still two major pieces of furniture I need to get, a sofa and a stove, and there's a lot of stuff of Mike's now in the living room which needs to have a home found for it (probably in the garage, which I should have videotaped when it was almost empty, cause now it's full of Mike's stuff!)
I waffled about exactly what to put in the third part, because I'm not done with the makeover yet. As is noted, Mike moved in basically on the 26th, which was exactly three weeks ago. In one shot in the video, you will see a bunch of boxes on the dining room table. Those were boxes from Mike's kitchen in his previous place, and as you see, our kitchen was having the floor removed and new tile applied, so the boxes stayed on the dining room table for another couple of weeks.
To bring you up to date, the kitchen, my bathroom, and the hall connecting the two are now tiled. I put shelf paper in five of the seven kitchen cupboards last on Labor Day weekend, and arranged the kitchen stuff in the cabinets. I moved the washer and dryer back into the kitchen, but not the old stove. I'm trying to get the owner to buy me a new stove, but will probably get a used one myself, as I really can't cook without one. I will still eat out during the week, but intend to cook meals on weekends.
I shot some video of Mike on August 26th, but it isn't the footage I'll use for my "introductory" video which will show his completed room, and the new stereo equipment in the living room. I want to wait till the living room is cleared of boxes before I take any more video for the "after" version of the makeover. I hope to have a new couch by then as well. (I'm also planning on putting in a cheap inflatable spa in the back yard!
I've been doing most of the work on subsequent weekends, since I work during the day on weekdays. Now I've got to be sure I don't damage my hip either, so I'm going to be more careful than I've been in the past. This has been quite a project, and will hopefully be done before I need to have my hip replacement replacement operation. The weekend before last, when I was filling the newly shelf papered kitchen cabinets, Mike was setting up the stereo in the living room. Last weekend I rested, since I'd just gotten the news Friday that my hip is in worse condition than I thought.
Hope you enjoy this latest Mike's Video Blog. I will probably have photos of what has been accomplished since I completed shooting the footage for the Vblog up for my next Photopost prior to featuring any more video. Stay tuned.

Wow, busy like a beaver!
I just read the blog about your hip. Please be careful. I don't want you to slow down, per se, but when you move, you'll have to slow down and use crutches.
Best of luck with the new roommate
It all looks great! Did I hear the Clash during the intro?
Very funny comment, by the way.

RYC: Actually, it's a talk with God. Or at least, what I'd expect the Christian God to actually say. How funny would that be if I was right?

You can tell it's a bachelor pad!
RYC: I think it's hard to come up with good topics sometimes....but if it gets people participating, that's good right?
I don't think I would have the patience to host a blog ring like that.It is a lot of work!
So I got equal billing with Alison Krauss! Life is good. I agree with the others.....you sound worn out. Well deserved rest is in order!
Dear Michael, thank you so much for stopping by and for your comment. ((Hugs)) I'm so sorry for what you have gone through. Please take really good care over there.
That is an excellent video! Thank you so much for sharing all you do! You are so creative! Love Ya!
Moving is ridiculous. I personally just like starting out small and leaving stuff behind, then building from there.
Anyway, Malcom the Cat is cute. I'm about to hit up on a kitten myself, and use it on neighbors. Claws shall not be removed.
Nice house. Love the space. Looking good!
Busyx3 it seems..
