LolCatom Nom Nom
Never one to buck a trend, and certainly never one to ignore said trend, or even any that are currently unsaid, I'm always willing to blend a trend. Today's blog entry would have be filed under the someday soon to be resurrected Komedy Komedy Komedy section of my personal website, AllThingsMike, and maybe even belongs in the Cultural Blender site somewhere. But for now, ladies and gentlemen, only you who read my blog will get the full benefit of the LolCatz Om Nom Nom Nom craze.
I'm sure you've seen them. Both the ubiquitous LolCat and the newly rampant Om Nom Nom Nom sites are the latest fadz or crazes on the internet. Actually, both of these trends are not new, but I want to introduce you to the "blended versions" of these phenomena. LolCat pictures include animals, usually cats, with weird expressions or doing some crazy thing, accompanied by badly spelled exclamations. "I made you a cooky, but I eated it" is a famous example. Om Nom Nom Nom pictures include something being eaten by a "monster" created by badly drawn photo editing. The monster almost always has sharp teeth and bloodshot eyes. Above, a LolCat is eated by his bonnet.
Now I figured I'd just rapidly go from "idea" to "execution", and that was about three hours ago. After creating a half dozen or so of these images, which, frankly, are better than the average Lolcat or Om nom nom nom image (Om nom nom nom is the "sound" of eating, by the way. Try it yourselves as you look at the photos. You'll laugh harder.) I started to get tired. Above, Supermon makes the mistake of fooling with the Lolcats. Om nom nom nom.
This is actually one of my photographs, and the LolCat in question is Spike, now a geriatric old kitty at age 14 or so. But still apt to make a face every now and then. I had the camera ready when she made this one. I must admit, although I thought I had the idea first, this is the internet, and any two disparate komedy elements you can think of combining have already been combined. Yes, you will find other examples around the internet that I didn't make. Darn! That shouldn't stop you from awarding this entry lots of stars and recommending it to your subscribers and friends (esp. if you happen to have a large subscriber and friend base, nyuk nyuk.) I think this entry deserves to be seen by ALL of Xanga!!!!
Here we are in the desert. Me, Bettie Page (armed with a power tool, natch) the ever present Spike are battling the CarMonster. (from a photo I took at the Culver City Car Show. ) The car's four "eyes" are mine, by the way, well one eye, from after I had cataract surgery, quadrupled.
Lastly, here's one without a cat.

Very cute... I must say the xanga bug is the one that I am most familiar with! That xanga bug does eat posts and shows up when I think I'm off to view someone else's post. Evil bug... I say you, Spike and Bettie should battle the xanga bug not the car monster.

@oceanstarr - Dear Ocean, I'd been seeing the Om nom nom nom phrase in comments and in entries on Xanga, and googled it to see what it referred to. I got to the site from the Urban Dictionary. If I would have had more time last night, I would have added a composite with dancing hampsters as well!
@suzyQ_darnit - Dear Suzy, Well, I'm not on the front page of Xanga, but I'm getting a fair amount of comments. None from anyone new. (yet) Actually, I can submit these images to either the Lolcat or the Om nom nom nom site. I might do that with the endtable graphic, which includes my own cat! Thanks for the recommend. I think this entry is now on the 2nd page of the Starred posts!
