  • Blogtag: Sevens

    seven

    I was tagged by Ihsan (ihsankhair) who posted his entry HERE to come up with lists of seven things. I usually plan my blogs but have nothing really set for the end of this week. (I'm still waiting for more people to view my video "Culver City Kustoms" in the entry below.) I didn't give this too much thought and am writing before starting work this morning. So Herewith:

    7 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:

    1. I like to have an ocean near me and will probably never leave Southern California because of this.  2. I tend to get upset quite easily, and my mood can swing from good to bad in a moment.  3. I haven't done so in a long time, but I am actually a pretty good artist and can draw both landscapes and portraiture. 4. I sleep in the nude. 5. I've been collecting movies since home video became available in 1981 and have over 3000 films on five different formats, some of which I can't play anymore. 6. In a crisis situation I will take over and  calmly manage things, but I tend to fall apart and get excitable over little stupid things. 7. I' m a perfectionist in an imperfect world.

    7 THINGS THAT SCARE ME:

    1. Right now my biggest fear is that I've lost most of my "real friends" and will spend my old age alone.  2 It scares me that Joel's cancer might get the better of him. He just finished his FOURTH round of chemotherapies. .3.When I get less than 20 comments on a blog entry. (Really, this scares me!)  4. Although I'm a careful and defensive driver, the idea of getting in a car wreck in my convertible always scares me. 5. For the Vincent Thomas suspension bridge to fall down while I'm driving over it (in my open car.) I list this because it crosses my mind every time I drive over the bridge.  6. John McCain becoming President of the USA. 7. Facing the prospect very soon of spending $50.00 (or more) to fill up the gas tank on my sports car.

    7 RANDOM MUSICAL SELECTIONS:

    Because my stereo in the car has been broken for over two years, I haven't listened to much new music in a long time. I do dredge my record and CD collection for selections I play on the blog here (when I'm not feauturing one of my videos.) But I'm not thinking of music right now so I'll skip this one.

    7 THINGS I'M APT TO SAY OR EXCLAIM:

    1. "Dig This." 2. "Could you do me a favor?"  3. "Let me do it." 4."Whanck, Whanck" or similar duck sounds. 5. "Thank You" 6. "Well I guess it's back to the drawing board" (when our engineer makes (frequent) changes on something I've presented.)  7. "Fu*k a Duck:" or, for more emphasis, "Fu*k-a-doodle"

    7 THINGS I TREASURE THE MOST:

    1. My physical "Poetry Volumes" and bound copies of my written work. 2. My personal website AllThingsMike. Created on my birthday, May 1, 1999, it will be 10 years old next year, and serves as "an electronic experiment in art" and a place where I store my own "art and literature". 3. The wide angle lens attachment I use on my video camera and digital still camera. My photography isn't the same without it. 4. The fact that our small company is still in business and I've got a good job! 5. Vocabulary. I always want to have the right word at the right time. 6. Imagination and creativity. I've been blessed. 7. My elephantine memory. I might have to use the "search engine" in my head but I don't forget much. My boss treasures this too, as he is always asking me about something that happened a while back in my 20 year employment history.

    7 “FIRST TIMES” :

    1. First Kiss: I kissed my girlfriend Criss at a party in the eighth grade. It turned out to be our only kiss, because the school year ended and we broke up and both went to different high schools.  2. First Time On Television: I was part of a debate team in high school and was featured on a local L.A. show called "The New Society." 3. First Plane Flight: : In 1974 my father died while I was on vacation, and I flew back home while my buddies cotinued drving up to Expo 74. 4. First Movie Experience in an Indoor Theater:  'Mary Poppins" in 1965 at the Edwards Theater in Anaheim.  5. First Prom: I didn't get a chance to go to the prom when I was in high school and accompanied a friend's sister to her prom when I was 25.  6. First Computer Experience: A friend who worked for Xerox had one the early Macs and I played with it at his house, modifying a line drawing of a naked girl by making her breasts bigger. Really, I'm not kidding. I didn't save the new image either, which made the guy pretty mad.  7. First Stirrings of Sexuality: I used to look up  my first grade teacher's dress while we students were lying on floormats supposedly "napping" and she would walk around the room passing between us.

My first physical stirrings of sexuality that I remember vividly didn't happen until my senior year of high school. I was only a few months old when I took my first plane ride.     Once again the hardwiring of our brains is proven by what we remember....

    The more I get older I too get nervous on the high overpasses. Bridges that I cross on my bicycle I get nervous unless the fence is quite high...

    Where will I end up in the future? Hopefully with out the aches and pains that the elderly get sometimes...

    I love these things because, as someone above said, we learn a little bit more about the people we call friends. I have many more "virtual" friends than real life friends. I have all of one RL friend and she's on the other side of the country (and I give her all the credit for maintaining our friendship because I'm a terrible letter writer... I mean, I write good letters, I just don't do it often enough. She does.) Anyway, it's really hard to make new friends as we grow older. My sister can somehow do it. But that's what I need to learn how to do, or I'll always be on the periphery. But I figure I'll always have lots of internet friends.
