The Xangapedia.
XANGAPEDIA © : collected and edited by Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool (Xangaversary Date:5/2004). Image of John and modified Xanga logo used without permission.
This is the first edition of the Xangapedia, a compendium of all words Xanga. Extensive research has gone into this effort to identify, list, and define the many real and unreal "Xangisms". Hours of websearching, copy/pasting, research (whoops, I already said that) and typing has gone into this particular entry in hopes that it gets lots of stars, recommends, eprops, comments, referrals, rereadings, and chuckles, and eventually ends up in the top five on the main page of Xanga in order to increase my readership and make me lots of new friends. (No, that's not it. This is an academic exercise engineered to help Xangans utilize proper speech.) The Xangapedia doesn't recognize AnY weiRd TyPiNg whiCH alTeRNateS caPital LettErs and LoWer CAse in OrdEr to driVe thE rEaDer BlinD. Please help compile upcoming editions by adding any words you think should be included in the next edition of the Xangapedia. Comments are provided immediately after the xangapost. Entries are listed alphabetically. (In case any one is wondering, I couldn't figure out a good way of writing "Xangdictionary" and "Xangapedia" rolls off the tongue a bit better. (For those old enough to remember, just picture Jiminy Cricket singing "X-a-n-g-a-pedia")

THIRD EDIT: 3/28 6:32a.m. pdt. I've received quite a lot of excellent words for inclusion in the second edition, far too many to list here. So be sure and subscribe so you get the updates on when I post the second edition. I'll include your links and give you credit. There seems to be a dispute over the etymology of the word "xangalebrity". I'm sure I've seen this word used often in the past. Walter (eadie) claims credit for the word, because of his 3/20/08 entry in the Urban Dictionary. Remy (porcupinesol) disputes this claim. Further research finds the word in usage in Norimoto's (Amandasbiggestfan) 2/27/08 entry on Xanga, which includes some other words which warrant inclusion in the xangapedia. Even earlier, Absolute Angel (absolutangel64) wrote a featured entry on 2/18/08 titled "I'm a Xangalebrity." The earliest instance of usage of the word made in searches this morning was found in a comment by Vocalistic on greggorant's 2/17/07 entry. So I think the word has been around for a while. BTW, I'm in the top spot on the front page of Xanga, as I intended when writing this entry, so I'm xangrateful for all of you xangitizens who gave me enough xangstars (not to be confused with xangstaz) ,xangeprops. and xangarecommends. @jessie623 - Dear Jessie, It would be "xangaing", #4 under "Xanga", using the word as a verb. "I'm xangaing so much I'm going crazy." Actually, used that way (with "ing") would be the adjective usage if memory serves.

Man, you didn't define the one that I use most often - xangan. Although I guess anyone needing that particular one defined would earn a nice, sarcastic "Xangduh!".

How about xangophile? A noun for one with great love for Xanga, xangalebrities, and the general xangasphere? Perhaps used in a lesser degree of a xangaholic.

Jean Claude Xangan: n. Any Xangan that kicks some serious ass, esp. of Belgian descent or capable of doing the splits
Xangali: n. A xangan whose talent is so great that their entries are almost hypnotic, and compel people to read on. ex. 'Did you read Baldmike's entry about the Xangapedia? That dude's a major Xangali.'

I do have one question though, using the word "xanger" is there a definition which "flamers" would be covered, in which I can call them a "xanger" and be correct? Or would there have to be a new word in place?

The whole "xangalebrity" concept was actually borrowed from another social networking site, XuQa. When xuqa first opened in 2005, the login page showed profile pictures of its members, officially called xuqalebrities. Users would compete to become the most famous xuqalebrity both on the entire xuqa site as well as for their university's xuqa members. Since then, the "(insert name of website here)-lebrity" concept has been floating around the internet, hence, xangalebrity making its debut. It was used casually among many members, then popularized by those who would later become xangalebrities themselves!

Actually, interesting story. Eadie and I were messaging back and forth one day, and I mentioned that AbsoluteAngel64 had made the "xangalebrity" word popular before Eadie started using it. So I told him, "I don't think it's in the urban dictionary yet." and suggested he put it in there, which he did.
It kind of DOES seem like mentioning Xanga is the key to getting featured, now that you think about it, with the Xangstas, Xangalebrities, Xanga Evangelism, Xangapedia, etc. and the thing is, now I'm kind of wondering what people are gonna come up with next.

Sort of a cross between crazy and zany as applied to internet social networking. "That blog was just xangy." "He writes the xangiest blogs." "That's just xangy." "Some of her comments are just plain xangy."

I've been spreading some xangathemed words around for the last couple of days in comments. I was going to write the typical blog article about blogging, using the term "blog" over and over, but then I figured if I used "Xanga" and created a "xangapedia" (I found that term in a search too from April of 2007 but it was on a createwiki forum, and I couldn't find any other xanga references in the forum.) I'd make featured right away. I didn't get in the top five till this morning, but I was the top starred spot last night and into this morning, until someone downstarred me.

Congratulations fine sir on this entry which begins to shed light on the depth that which us regular users of xanga hold in our hearts.
I don't actually think that grammar quite worked and we do not have a complete sentence, but I'm going to get up in a moment and dance in my living room. I can't remember the last time I had the music this loud but it seems no one in the adjoining apartments is home, and should the arrive I will not hear them pounding.
They may have to resort to a brick through the window. By that time I will probably be well into my second pint and I may need to toss the empties out at them in response.
Actually I'm also going to set up a spoof hello kitty myspace featuring pictures of my butt and various moobs and post a link on my xanga.

@setfree2day - Dear Christina, Didn't you see the pronunciation chart? It's "ZANG-uh", with the emphasis on the first syllable, and the a is almost but not a short vowel sound. (Pronounced like "uh", represented by "ə" in a dictionary, and called a schwa.) Hope this helps.
