I can't believe that Mike's Video Blog #3: "Welcome to Albequerque" was created back in April. Such a long time ago. I was going to make one of these each and every month. Well, I did make two internet movies since April, "ElvisMovies 2" and "Clowns", so I have been busy with the videomaking. I now have 17 of my internet movies on YouTube. I am taking some much needed vacation time, and yesterday I created the latest Mike's Video Blog, as I journeyed to the tip of the Palos Verdes Peninsula with my beach chair and some summer reading.
The area of Malaga Cove, where I set up my chair, is rocky and barren, with a sheer drop to the "beach" and ocean below. My roommate tells me that you can actually get down to the water in a couple of places, but I was satisfied being 20 or 30 feet up on the precipice. We're having quite a heat wave, and the weather even by the ocean was in the low 90s. I wore shorts, and got quite a sunburn on my legs. I did wear my cap, so my head was saved from ultraviolet rays.
This and the next photo were taken near the fishing boat pier in the L.A. Harbor in San Pedro. The air and water was clear, and I covered about 15 miles on my "trip" from the western part of the peninsula to Vincent Thomas suspension bridge over the harbor.
I begean the day yesterday "designing" the video blog. I memorized different subjects about which I wanted to talk, and I took my camera with me when I took off. First was breakfast, then the jaunt to Malaga Cove, where I shot the first round of footage. I really like the shots I took with the camera mounted above the windshield. Remarkably, this footage came out without a lot of shaking. I'm attempting to prove that a video blog can be like a miniature TV show, with credits, a "plot" and good photography. Since cameras can go anywhere, so can the video blog. I finished up the "footage" by 1pm, and then assembled the video blog on my computer.
I finished at about 10pm last night, and uploaded the video to YouTube a little after midnight. It was then that I decided to take today off too, so that I could spend this morning assembling my Xanga article about the video. This photo is the Vincent Thomas Bridge. I figured a lot of bloggers don't live in the vicinity of a large suspension bridge, so I take my "videobloggers" over the bridge not once, but once each way.
This is a map I constructed showing the beginning point of the video, at Malaga Cove, and the ending, at the bridge in the harbor. The area detailed on the map, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, is shown on the smaller map of the state of California.
Below is the actual "Mike's VideoBlog #4: "VideoBloggin' at Malaga Cove and Around the Peninsula." It is 9 minutes and 47 seconds long. YouTube has a 10 minute "limit", and I edited about a minute and a half out of the "director's cut" in order to clock in at under 10 minutes. As usual, for those with dialup or slower internet connections, there might be long buffereing time before you can "see" the movie. Click the "play" button, and then pause until you see the light grey slider cross about half the playing area, so that the video does not 'stop and start' in fits.
First of course, disable the music playing on my blog by clicking the stop button on the Jukebox this Week slider in the left hand column of the blog in the "AllThingsMike Universe" module.
Enjoy.
I hope you have as much enjoyment watching as I do making my Video Blogs.
If you've missed any of the other "Mike's Video Blogs" I've made, you can "catch up" by scrolling to the bottom of this page. All three previous Mike's Video Blogs are presented on this page at the bottom and can be played on this page. Other MikeVideos are showcased on my YouTube site.

Video blogs...what a lovely idea
I've got you covered Mister Mike! Just so you know, your back ground music conflicts with the music in the video. You might want to nix the background music while you have the video up!
I've nominated this...and I want you to know that I LOooooOVED it! So cool!
Not the book I would have started on myself, but go with what seems right.
"Sitting right here...that's right there."
That made me laugh for some reason.
Mike !!!! it's great to hear from you
you must tell me how you are doing personally when you visit...I was wonder such things.
Say hi to Liz for me, I miss her terribly but have left that indication on her blog. I hope she is healing and continues to make progress!

My personal fav is the grown up circuses...Cirque du Soliel....any of them and they have aeralitst, contortionists and lots of other wonderful things but not animials. :spinning:
Loved the video mike but I'm disapointed...WHERE WAS THE NUDE SCENE!!!
Have a great saturday my friend...take care of yourself
These are great pictures Mike wish I knew how to do videos. With my rating problems I guess I will not be putting art up. Maybe all art museum should be rated D lol. I think I will concentrate on my own photos which I love to do anyway. Thanks for doing the rating Judi

I am sure, I am positive (well, almost sure and positive:)) that the day I find the time to put my speakers on and watch your videos, I will be in deep anguish over why I waited so long to sample your cinematic mastery. (Ugh, that sounds sarcastic; I am very sincere).
But I do want to catch up on my other visitations, and I started a blog yesterday that needs some polishing and I want to publish it, so well, you know how it goes.
RYC: I don't think I ever knew C. M. Coolidge's name. Thank you. When I get a chance, I'll go back and edit that blog to give him credit.
Michael,
Very shiny indeed, my friend! What a wonderful day at the ocean... as is any day at the ocean. It's amazing how coastal areas can be so different from each other. You captured it quite well. Thanks for making your experience mine. :coolman:
BE blessed!

Hi Mike,
These video blogs are such a good idea! You've done an excellent job with yours, and sometime I'd like to make one of my own.
RYC: I agree with you on what you've said on religion. What I meant when I said "American accents", was that no matter where a person comes from with what I hear as an accent from your country, I'll know you're an American. I really like any accent from your country. I know the American accent is wide and varied, as I've heard all of them from different parts of your country. It's the same with the British or Australian accents. With Australian accents, I can pick exactly where a person has come from in my country just by the way they speak. Same goes with people from England.
I enjoyed that. We didn't get to that area at all when we were in CA. Such a huge state with so much to see. A truly beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.:goodjob:
That was fun. BTW I'll be in California the first week in August.
Mike I really enjoy the vidio blogs, the only thing that is frustrating to me is we have 'dial-up'
and it takes forever for anything to download, but the wait was worth it!!!:) You can see my daughters pictures by going to the xanga site for RH32, she also belongs to your Island Internet!!!:) It was thru her I found you! Hope you enjoy her pictures, because she love to take lots, and lots of pictures!!!
I love that first picture, from New Mexico-how cool to see such an expansive view! ryc: Bush is an idiot, wanted to show a pic of him being one-lol. Too sad about Syd Barrett.
Just so you know, I saw this blog on the boost thing, and I gave you a five, hope it does well. No time ( as usual ) to watch the vidoe, but loved the pictures. I have done my FG blog, only because I wanted to give pam a good start. Off to a party ( wow, I am getting a life ). RYC: Anger issues? Ya think?
RYC: It's metaphorical anyway. i live in a city and have never even experience seasonal changes before... so i can only imagine.
Hi Michael!
!
!!!
Thank you so much for your visit! It's very nice when someone is really interested on what is posted on a site!
Lately I was posting about my real life on my "main" (IsabelDavid) but I was not feeling at ease because it has my real name on it and it was too easy to Google it and getting to know "all" about me... So I've made a new xanga site (WhataWonderfulWorld2006).
In case you want to subscribe it, I would be most honored
It was utmost nice from you to give me the link to the music "It's a Wonderful World"!
Thanks to you, it's now on my new site!
I would like very much to post about books - Topic 14 First and Last Books - as you suggested on your challenge! I'm working on it! Despite, I know, I would be a bit late...
I've loved your video blog. What a lovely place... (that's a great idea and it was so much fun sharing your life!) and now I have one more thing to do: search about Portuguese Bend as I'm Portuguese and know nothing about it
You run a very interesting site as you are, definitely, a very interesting person!
Thank you again!
Isabel
