News and Notes: Self Imposed Xanga Vacation
SELF IMPOSED XANGA VACATION
I thought it was only in good taste to sort of let any readers know that I'm not participating in blogging for a few weeks. My 53rd birthday is coming up on May 1st, and I hope to be blogging again by then or before. Our internet access at work has been down for a couple of weeks, and on top of that it has been incredibly busy at work, so that when I come home I've been too tired to want to put the effort I usually put into blogging. I at least wanted to try to update every couple of days, and might keep up some entries, but it's Sunday afternoon right now, and I don't really want to spend any time at the computer. This happens every now and then. I'm paying for this service, and it is a part of my website, so it won't disappear any time soon, but I will not be active, and really haven't been active for a while. I put up an Internet Island topic post last week, and only got a few respondents, so even the Internet Island isn't active right now, so what better time to take a self imposed vacation for a few weeks. I won't take any of the older posts down, so if there is still anyone visiting knowing that I haven't been commenting lately, there are still probably older articles you might not have read, and a lot of featured blogs are still linked from the archive under the "AllthingsMike Universe" column on the left of this blog. I'll try to get a video blog put together before my birthday. Thank you to all the visitors and regular readers, and thanks for your encouraging comments and for particpation in the Internet Island. Who knows, a lot of people say they're going on "vacation" only to be back again the next day or so. I may have an article or two to post soon, or might not, but wanted to at least let people know that nothing is "wrong" and I'm just a bit burned out right now, and cannot put the effort into blogging as I usually do.
Thanks for listening.

well now, don't be gone too long!
I am all too aware of 'vacations,' seems I can't stay away for long. I still read and comment, but something always pops up that I want to blog on! Have a good break.
enjoy it to the fullest and Happy Birthday to you,
:fun: You are on vacation from blogging and i am coming off one!!!!!
I was wondering where you were and hoping you were okay as it seemed uncharacteristic of you not to be around every day in some sort of way...but I certainly understand the need to give it a rest. I've been feeling that way much myself. One of the things I like about your blog is that there is entirely too much to read in one sitting...you HAVE to come back and look at old stuff. I like that when I can't find anything else on xanga to look at I can always go over to your site and look at something I haven't looked at before. You take as long as you need...it's not like your under a contract to supply us info every day! Happy Birthday! Make it a good one! :sunny:
:heartbeat: enjoy your break! I'm just getting back from one myself. Have a wonderful birthday as well!
We all need a break now and then. Enjoy yours.
Hi Mike....I'm sorry to hear you're feeling over-extended. I have not had time for very much blogging activity since we got to Idaho. Our broadband connection is pretty unreliable and infuriating. I do hope you mean it when you say everything is ok. Relax and enjoy your break. I know we'll see you back here sometime soon.
Enjoy your "vacation"! Will miss you while you are gone. Even though you aren't around, I will still write on one of the topics in the next week or so.
I just came back (about a month ago) from a loooong vacation from the internet. The first couple of months I missed it a lot... I had become fairly obsessed. I believe I was offline a little over nine months (except for checking e-mail a couple of times a week at the library... and sneeking in a few comments to Xanga friends when I had time... I had to wait in a queue for a 30 minute session) and I do believe it did me a lot of good. Gave me some perspective, I think. Hope you don't need to be gone as long as I was. ~Ben
I can't stand it! I'm older than you!
Hey, the videos should sustain us for a while. I had sensed burnout from you as you hadn't posted quite as much. Hang in there. You'll be back with great fun and vigor! Hugs! Lana:wave:
My self-imposed vacation from blogging in Feb was tough for a few days, but ended up being quite refreshing. Enjoy living, Mike!
You do the best pics! I just hope that parrot doesn't go on the newspaper... at least not on your face. :fun:

I'm sorry I've neglected the Island.
I haven't felt much like blogging lately either. I have been thinking about the topic though. Come back soon!
I hope your vacation rejuvinates you. Sadly, I didn't want to write about tax day or anything else you put up this time. Maybe I'll go back and do something from II8. Enjoy the weather as it warms. My husband and I have been outside and driving and just talking and walking more, and it's such a blessing. Yet another reason not to be cooped up inside. Be well, and we look forward to your return, when you're ready.
You will be missed. Happy, Happy Birthday (and each other):sunny:
I think it is Spring calling us Michael
Mike
Hope you are not leaving because you think we are not interested. You mean so much to us. We will miss you during your self imposed exile. Please come back to us one day soon. Do I need to fly out and sing bad TV theme songs for your birthday???? If you knew what a horrible singer I was that would be funny and could be seen as a threat. LOL
Hugs
Kat
hey mike, i understand about needing a break, i've felt that way lots of times especially when i'm too tired or sick to write, or when i feel unsafe (which happens a lot). i always come back though, i miss my friends here too much. i read your entries, they're always real interesting, but i've been bad at commenting and i'm sorry about that. i hope your break gives you lots of energy and that you'll come back before your birthday. lots of ppl here wanna wish you a happy birthday, i'm sure! take real good care, charlie :sunny:
ONLY 53:spinning:
You will be missed - especially in your role of facilitating the Internet Island.
Happy Birthday, my friend, and many happy returns, in more ways than one.
Thanks for a marvelous posting! I actually enjoyed reading it, you are a great author.
I will be sure to bookmark your blog and definitely will come back in the future.
I want to encourage you to continue your great work, have
a nice evening!
