A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT CARTOONS AND MUSLIMS
(Revised from a comment I wrote on another blog last week.)
I was going to write an article about the cartoons that so offended the Muslim world, but there are so many political blogs that said the same thing I wanted to point out, that I never wrote the article.Still, I wanted to put my two cents in, and will use this space as the vehicle for my views.
Here are my thoughts. In Sept. 2005 a Danish newspaper commissioned the "cartoons". In October of 2005, DURING the holy month of Ramadan, an Egyptian (Muslim) newspaper reprinted the cartoons. I don't remember any backlash until recently. What I think happened is some radical Muslim group brought up the subject, in order to cook up resentment against the West, which is what radical Muslims do. I'm talking "radical" here, the kind of Muslims who plan flights into tall buildings, for instance. They are not indicative of the entire Muslim population, just as Jerry Falwell is not indicative of Christianity. (Or Pat Robertson, for that matter, a guy who seems to want to write his own "fatwas" as he approaches senility. (Sorry, I meant to say "dementia".)
In response to the news articles of Muslims "protesting" the cartoons (almost six months after originally published) the European press republished them. Like a perpetual motion machine, the "response" to the reprinting fueled Muslim anger, and that's when the protests accelerrated into burning flags and embassies. You will notice that the American press, for the most part, has not printed the cartoons. I have seen them in the Egyptian paper, and they aren't that "offensive". What is offensive, if you are a Muslim, is that the prophet Muhammad is not to be pictured AT ALL, much less satirically. It is in places in Europe like France, where there are large Muslim populations, and where riots broke out not too long ago, that the dichotomy of having a religious minority in countries that support free speech is being tested by the publication of the cartoons. The most offensive shows a head shot of a bearded Muslim, supposedly Muhammad, wild eyed with a bomb shaped turban. It isn't even drawn that well. I wanted to feature my own cartoon on my blog, with "radical Islamist" subsituted for "Muhammad". I also wanted to show some of the more bloody and disgusting political cartoons in the Arab press, which show terrible images of hook nosed Jews killing Palestinian babies. The Muslim press which is pressuring the "man in the street" to riot in the name of religion is doing so without regard to the fact that they libel Christians and Jews all the time. It isn't sacriligeous to show Jesus or Ariel Sharon in a satirical political cartoon, however.
So the "average Muslim" is going to be incensed, because he is being told to be angry, and he is responding. Remember, this is a religion where the religious Imams call for prayers six times a day. They are INTENSELY religious, and they see the portrayal of their prophet as EXTREMELY sacriligeous. Now they had to be "told" about the cartoons, since they obviously didn't see them when the Danish newspaper printed them first. And they weren't "upset" in Egypt when the Muslim press in Egypt ran the cartoons. This is a classic case of propaganda. Radicals on all sides of a question try to promote anger and the lack of tolerance in all parties fuels the fire. What has to be "fixed" is the fact that Muslims want to live in "free" countries, but still want to cling to thier antiquated religious dogmas. As I know by living in America, even with a supposed separation of Church and State, we have constant problems when it comes to seemingly undermining a person's belief system.
AllThingsMike UPDATES
The main page of AllThingsMike, my personal website, had been redesigned again, in case you haven't been over there in a while. I highlight some of my blog entries, and feature some of the new pages I've created, including the complete series so far of "My Sexual History" which is being serialized here on the blog, and the new Streaming Videos which are accessible through the MikeVideo site and my YouTube page. There is even a copy of my new "Video Blog" entry, which is also featured in the entry below this one, for those who missed it when I put it up on Saturday. I intend to create a "video blog" each week if time permits. The response was overwhelmingly positive. I don't think I received one RYC but only wonderful postivive feedback in 21 comments on the entry. Thanks a lot you guys. I'm glad you enjoyed this newest creative endeavor, and visit the YouTube page for more videos. I currently have 12 "original" videos online. There is a History of MikeVideo on the MikeVideo site for those of you who are interested or who didn't read the article when I featured it on WhenWordsCollide (this blog). I've added the Jukebox This Week feature to the webhub page, and also have a new guestbook element, with no comments. It's located all the way down the left hand module, under the image of the guestbook that says: "Please Read Me Like a Book, and Then Sign This One". Perhaps somebody would like to leave the first guestbook entry? (Only interested parties, obviously)
IS THE INTERNET ISLAND A VIABLE BLOGRING?
EDIT: 8:03 p.m. pst. Well, I've decided, after reading all the positive comments in a short period of time, that I will not "sink" the Island. It does serve a purpose, and I am too hard on myself as usual. So before reading further, the answer to this next article is: No, I won't sink the "Island".
I created the Internet Island as a participatory blogring where the members would constantly be visiting each other and everyone would participate in the topic posts. People with only two or three comments on each entry would find that their readership would increase. People who write would receive readerships that they never imagined. The interactivity would fuel everyone's talents and we would all make new friendships. What happened? Is it just me? I'm quite disappointed, and sometimes I think I should just pull the plug on this latest "experiment" which didn't work. From the very first "discussion board" element I put on AllThingsMike years ago, till now, on Xanga, with the "Island" I have tried to create some kind of autonomous "Internet Community." Perhaps it's because I'm just not interesting, and nobody really cares about anything "I" do, that has caused the failure of this blogring. I constantly see "popular" blogs here on Xanga, where the blogmasters have hundreds of comments on each post, they create narcissistic blogrings with hundreds of members. What do they do that I do not? I try to visit everybody. I write long comments. I READ BACK POSTS. I want to make some kind of difference!
But it's not working, and frankly, I'm getting tired and frustrated. I've written six topic posts. The last one had only 26 entries. (Out of 124 blogring members.) I'm pretty sure I visited each blogger and commented on his entry. (I haven't commented on the last one, forgive me, I'll comment soon) I try to go to new members whom I haven't visited before. I write up to 15 comments a day. A lot of these are on new blogs in the ring. I still manage to keep up with commenting on those sites to whom I subscribe who are not part of the "Island". Somehow that "sense of community" of which I am always writing does not seem to exist anymore. The first couple of posts had many many entries, and I thought I would be inundated with interaction so much so that it would overwhelm me.
I'm a bit underwhelmed at the moment. What am I doing wrong? Should I just chuck this idea into my pile of overactive internet ideas? One comment I received really struck me. One of my blogring members, and regular readers told me she visited each and every one who responded to a topic post, and didn't hear from too many in return. That frustrated her, and me too. I don't really like it when I go out of my way to try to make new friends by way of the "Island Blogring" and don't get ANY FEEDBACK at all. I admit, it takes a while for me to personally visit each new member, as I approve them, and I do eventually. Sometimes I get feedback, most often I do not. I don't "rant" too much on this service. I'm going to write my articles, stories, reminiscences, and present photos, videos and artwork, just as I have before I ever heard of blogging or Xanga. This is the way I exercise my creativity. I'm not "personally" upset at a lack of comments on my own blog. I get enough comments, and my readers usually leave me "quality" feedback. It's the "Island" that I don't think is working.
Is anyone reading this?
Tomorrow I will announce Internet Island Topic Post #7.00. In this post, I am going to ASK FOR TOPIC SUGGESTIONS. Perhaps the lack of interest is because most of the blogring members (not the ones who respond, but the ones who do not) do not like or cannot write responses to my "questions." I'll ask for other suggestions, then, and let's see if this bubbles up some support. I've written about my frustration with running Yahoo Groups before. I didn't think I'd get burned out so soon on the blogring, but I'm at my wit's end. I feel like I'm failing when I visit a blogring site that only has three or four comments an entry. Perhaps it's the "fault" of some of these bloggers themselves, who aren't responding. The "idea", of the "Island" , again, and I repeat, is to stimulate interaction. Why don't I think this is happening? Do I have a plug up my perception or what? Comments would be appreciated. ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T USUALLY COMMENT.
Now, here's something weird. Each time I do put up a Topic Post, somebody whom I don't know, and who isn't part of the blogring will answer the topic post. I will go to them and ask if they want to join the ring, and guess what? They never respond.
Well, that's enough of this rant. And that's quite enough of this entry. Sorry if I upset anyone with my observations. Some "Islanders" are quite special, and I beam with delight everytime I visit a site and see another blogring member comment "I'm dropping by from the Internet Island." A lot of you are quite wonderful and are exceeding my expectations. An old high school classmate who was helping me set up a "reunion website" back in the 90s (another failed internet endeavor) once told me that there are only a few people who go out and get things accomplished, and a great many just sit by idly. We couldn't get enough people interested in the idea of the "virtual yearbook" idea I had. As usual, I think in broad strokes with global ideas, and perhaps I set myself up for failure.
I wanted to see the Internet Island succeed beyond my wildest expectations. I don't feel as if it is happening. What else can I do?
Thanks so far for all the great answers, folks.

Mike I think you do an awesome job!!! I only recently joined the island, but I have been going to sites and leaving comments and trying to get to know folks. I haven't picked up to many new friends as of yet but I'm not giving up! There are a lot of folks out there that look forward to mingling and getting involved and then there are the ones who may come by and comment once and then move on. I will say that i have always got a reply from any site that I visited. I think one thing, a lot of us out here including myself don't feel intelligent enough to get in there and get involved with some of these topics. I'm just a country girl that likes to visit new people but I'm not a great writer or poet or even very computer smart! So i am happy when I make a new friend somewhere across this vast world of ours that I can share the thoughts of every day life with! I luv your thoughts and insight on things, so don't give up there are folks who care!
hugs
Diana
What else can you do? You can be a little less hard on yourself. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I have responded to some (but not all) of the topic posts and I have visited some (but not enough) of the other Islanders. What has my experience been like? Well, I've met some people (virtually of course) that I wouldn't otherwise have met. I've read some thought-provoking stuff that I wouldn't otherwise have read. I've made some connections I wouldn't otherwise have made. You say your last topic post generated 26 entries out of 124 members. That may not meet your own expectations, but I think you should recognize that's a pretty good response rate. So if you continue to post topics from time to time, I'll continue to post responses to some of them (not enough of them) and I'll continue to visit other Islanders (but not enough of them) and I'll continue to enjoy the experience.
Hey Michael - one thing we don't do on the island that I really like on some others is a blog updating the links then i can just go there and click one at a time. I do not it's a lot of work so I understand. I like to participate even if I whine it's hard sometimes
i'm not a member but here's a bit of my input. i think the island may need it's own site so ppl can check it for updates and connect there (like denise does w/featured content), but the other thing is the just the nature of the beast. i figure about 10% of the ppl that read comment, for a variety of reasons, and you have developed a good readership and following. most ppl have about 10 - 25 ppl that they read and comment on fairly regularly ( a couple times a week) and i think the other thing is length. shorter entries are easier for ppl to digest and comment on (as in danthetheologians sweet and short blogs- more like random thoughts). i don't think you should give up tho. i think you should continue what makes you happy and ppl w/either read you or not- depending on their own preferences. i know you commented recently on the number of comments i got in a day, but i have never been featured - not once, and for me, that's ok. i like the ppl who read me and sub to me, and i read their stuff bc it makes me happy. i like the sense of knowing who's having a good day or a bad day, and i couldn't do that if i had 100's like daniel or dan. i write what i want to write and i give my readers a choice- to read or not, it's ok w/me. i know you know all this stuff, but community is built slowly and takes a lot of work- for that's what you're trying to do w/the island. i don't participate not bc i don't like the topics (in fact, i answered one by mistake recently), or the ppl, but bc i don't want to give up the blog rings i already participate in. i think you're on the right track.... just keep writing!
Dear Diana. I wondered what this post would generate in regards to new Islanders. Thank you for your response. Your comment is delicious. I want to stimulate discussion among different people of all stripes. It's probably happening, but I'm looking for more than I'm perhaps personally seeing. Your response already proves that the concept is working more positively than I have thought. I'm perhaps a bit too impatient. (Those who know me would be falling off thier chairs at this point). I'm also an anal retentive perfectionist, but I champion communication above all.
Dear Jeff. I could perhaps be a lot less hard on myself. As I've written extensively. I'm apt to blame myself for something that others in our place of business have failed to do. If nobody else takes ownership, I will. I haven't yet figured out how this is helping me prove any points, but it's my nature. I also know that the ratio is pretty good, actually, but as a perfectionist, as mentioned above, I am always looking for more than I see. This sometimes translates into good vibrations for all, and sometimes gives people the willies.
Dear Pam. I did exactly this on the first post, and it WAS real popular. Updating the list isn't that bad, when you are on the computer. I actually updated at work. All that is done by copy/paste. I said from the beginning, that I wanted the Islanders to post comments on the topic entries, which would be instantly accessible at the top of my blog. I might keep an updated list up there, with the newer posts listed first. That way each time somebody visited the blog, the latest topic entries would be right there for easy access. Not a bad idea at all. The more "busy work" I have to do, the less commenting I can do, so I should say there are "deadlines" when everybody would know that I'm posting updates. I'm good at time management, so this shouldn't be too difficult to create and implement. Thanks for the idea.
I'll drop by from time to time to respond to further comments. So far, the Island seems to be unsinkable! :sunny:
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool
I think it's doing fabulously Mike! It's the only blogring I belong to where I can count on recent posts and interesting ones to boot.
I'm sorry your blogring isn't as fulfilling to you as you hoped it would be. I have to admit i haven't answered the last question. I don't remember what the question was. I don't remember if i didn't answer it for a specific reason or if i was tired the day i read it. I'm a very bad blogring member. i have only browsed the ring maybe two or three times. i have a hard time now just responding to the people i subscribed to though. i even had to cut down on my subscriptions for several reasons. I also cut down on my blogrings for other reasons though i kept the island because i liked it much better than the other blogrings i had. theres a special something with it...
i haven't seen the comic that everyone is going insane over. i don't really want to. i know that there are different cultures and all that involved but i figure if i can stand seeing jesus being belittled in some comics muslims should be just as tolerant. but the reality is there are different cultures and different view points to religion. back in the day what we see as making fun of our religions now woud have never happened. who knows if its better or worse than another... i just don't think i'd set fire to anything and riot over a cartoon.
i actually was excited to join this blog ring and fully intended to write out something last week but we had a family emergency to deal with (dad's heart surgery). I like your idea and it seems to be a good place to meet people.
Remember you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. I enjoy the topics, even if I say they are "hard" sometimes, and maybe hard isn't the right word, but though provoking to the point of not being sure what to say.....
I try to visit others, and I always try to get back to people who visit me. Of course, I've got a lot more time on my hands at the moment so that's easier to do.
I also don't usually go back to someone's blog that i've commented on to see if they've responded to my comment in their own comments. I guess I figure if they have something to say they will stop by my site....???? I've noticed several people respond to comments in their comment section and honestly when I'm working full time, I just don't always have time to read through another persons comments. I love the interaction of the topics, I've met several new people through them.
I agree with screaming, it's nice to be able to click on a link but understand it's a lot of work........... my 2 cents for what it's worth.....as for topics???
Well, that's a tough one. I don't know. My own blogs have been pretty boring as of late.....i look to you leaders of blog rings to give me some enthusiasm for material!!
I think the island is a great idea....I didn;t post on issue 6.0 because I didn't know what to say.
Here is an idea.
maybe get some ideas from subscribers on topics...just a thought. something whacky something fun...everyobody loves to laugh
.
Also give it a chance to grow for awhile...I know some things i do take a lot more time than intended but im certain your idea will fly very well.
Take Care Mike
I have to say - I love this bogring. I like the topics that are posted because they make me think, mostly about myself and my life, and because they give me a chance to stretch myself a little bit when I respond. I am not naturally very social, and I find it hard to make friends - even on xanga. I don't have that problem on InternetIsland.
As far as comments go, I try to go through the topic postings and comment on as many as I can.
Anna
Of course I meant blogring. My keyboard is acting out.
Hi Mike,
It's so wonderful to hear from you. Yes, we're doing quite alright here.
I don't have much time to comment let alone participate in anything right now, even less than before. Thanks for the input about the Muslim Cartoon Fiasco....I think I agree with you. I do believe that this is a fight that has been going on for centuries and the media has made the world smaller and inflammatory words and actions fly around the globe faster. I think this goes both ways. That movie that A&E produced and hyped and showed about Flight 93 of 9/11 was inflammatory in the same way. It really bothered me. I felt like it was unnecessary, exploitative and sensationalistic as well. We all know what happened. Why would anyone want to watch it re-enacted on TV?
enough of my rant.....take care of yourself...I hope I manage to visit you again sooner than later, my friend.
regards,
Maureen
RYC: LOL Drama is people who blow things out of proportion -- an associate complains that another associate has looked at them wrong or they don't like the way they dress... arggg just come to work and do your job ... :fun:i love the twirly hat guy
Mike, You have a really big heart and that's one thing I really like about you! Someday, I'm coming to visit my sis and we'll get together for coffee or Thai food! How about it? Don't be so hard. Life just gets in the way sometimes. As for me? My computer was broken d/t trying to download a background so I missed out on lots over the last month. Oh, I think you noticed that...thanks for stopping by. You can count on me for comments (I might have missed the last d/t the broken computer) I always have an opinion! Persevere!
That dichotomy question was a toughie. I could tell, judging from a few entries I got to read.
I noticed your comment about Six Feet Under back at Pam's. That show's just gonna get quirkier and more intriguing. And more addictive, I guarantee.
Mike,
Seventeenth!!!
I agree w/ the person who said...um, shoot...I agree with many of those comments! I enjoy the blogring or I wouldn't have joined it. I don't always have something to contribute. I sometimes simply don't have the time. I've made at least five or six new acquaintances through it that I hadn't seen before and now read regularly and that is a great ratio I think. It's hard to read and know 100 people! I might add that YOU in fact are one of the people that I now know that I wouldn't of known otherwise. I'm a terrible commenter in general...but I'm trying to do better! I got a Betty Boop tshirt from freecycle the other day and you were the first person I thought of! It's working....it's just everyone approaches things differently. But you knew that. I think you are much better known than you give yourself credit for. :p :p :heartbeat: :wha:
Mr. Mike,
 very nice rant. Anyone who comments on my site I try to visit their page and comment back. Again, I'm sorry that I haven't been as active as I was before. I've thought about just dropping out of the Internet blogring, but each time I come up with another excuse not to. I'm not sure why you're not getting as much feedback as usual. I've noticed that comments on peoples sites have been greatly decreasing since x-mas. It's like this was up and running and then the holidays came and "poof" the "island" is no more. I know that's kind of how it happened with me. I mean I had that story going about everyone and then I just stopped. I felt really bad for just ending it like that, but near the end people weren't as into it as I thought they'd be. I'mn not really sure. I can't help you out much on what our next topic should be because honestly I have no idea what I'd like to write about or "rant" about for that matter. I'd like to thank you for your kind words and I do know that my "roommate woes" will be over quite soon. Maybe not soon enough, but it's good enough for me. I will try to relieve some stress so that maybe I'll do better on my schoolwork. peace out and take care.
autumn.
Hi Mike,
I agree with what you've said on the massive overreaction on the part of fundamentalist Mulims, to that silly cartoon. Words can't describe how horrified I've been at their behaviour over this.
With regards to your setting up Internet Island. I think it's a fabulous thing you've done doing this, and I've actually met so many more Xangans, simply through this new blogring. The only thing is, I feel most people like to write randomly with their own ideas on blogs. This is what I'm like, and if I feel like writing on a certain topic of my choice, then I'll do it. I sometimes go for days without writing anything at all, and other times it'll be just about every day. In other words I think most people prefer not to write on what someone else has set them. Having said this, I often visit sites where the person has written on the topic you've allocated, and I really love to read their ideas and answers. It's just that I prefer to write at random.
Please don't ever feel you've failed with Internet Island, Mike, because you certainly have not. I'm regulary getting people visiting my site, who are also part of this blogring. Thus meeting new people all the time! :goodjob: I know other people are getting others visiting them too, all because you took the time and trouble to set-up this great blogring. :coolman:
I thought you were on the protected list, I will double check when I go back to my site
And I know what you mean, it is very frustrating when you comment to someone and they don't reply. Especially when they obviously joined the island and your comments are not just a "hi"
I have to say that I've been a little off xanga lately due to time constraints (getting my house ready to put on the market). But I have enjoyed the topics. They force me to think on a deeper level and writing heals. I admit that I didn't get around to many posts on this last topic due to my own time limitations. You can definately see the difference in comments on your own blog, if you make the effort to leave comments on others. I always enjoy your comments...very insightful. You must have an influence on us xanger's...I had a dream that you decided to travel the US and meet people from xanga. I came home one night and you were sitting in my living room. I had no idea you were coming and the funny thing is that I didn't seem shocked in my dream that you were there. Keep on doing what you are doing! Take care...Carmen
As usual, Mike, you demand a lot of people. You're an amazing man, and I love that you expect all of us to be amazing, too. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to can the blogring, but I really enjoy it. I don't "get out" and meet new Islanders as often as I could, but on occasion, I'll go on a reading spree. Some people simply don't interest me, but I'll give them a few goes, read them when their names pop up, etc. Your topics are usually very thought-provoking, and they're open enough that we can go our own ways with them. I thank you for keeping it alive so far, though I know how taxing it must be, especially emotionally. Smiles and hugs to you!
P.S. The cadence of "news and notes" makes me think of "gin and juice," and the sipping on thereof. :sunny:
 I've signed up for internet island... will be looking in email soon to see if I can contribute or... read.
Okay, I haven't even READ this in its entirety yet, but I have to say something: I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE YOU WERE THINKING OF SINKING THE ISLAND! (Caps for emphasis, not shrieks...okay, maybe a little shriek.)
Patience isn't one of your strongsuits, is it? *smile*
Honestly, the fact that I haven't been able to respond to all the Island T(r)opics, I do read Islanders' writings when I can and I do make connections. Just today I met a sister Island People Person who seems more like a long lost friend. I just love her! I'm very sure that without divine intervention I would never have met her if not for Internet Island.
Please! Don't even think of zapping this community. You can't possibly know all the wonders it is accomplishing.
Love you, my dear friend.
For a while I wasn't commenting to many people at all--because of my computer problems. Now I can. I enjoy this ring. The questions aren't as deeply philosophical as a couple other rings. I have problems with them. These questions are fun. Because the ring is so large, I cannot get around to everyone, and still comment on my other rings, too. I spend too much time here the way it is. But as I get to know more of the people here, I will comment more. It just takes time!! Glad you are not giving up on it!!!!
You've changed your blog site and I can comment now. I just wanted to thank you for nice comments you made on my Featured Grownups essay. There's no way to stop it, so we have to be individual teachers.
I'll get back to your essays on the infamous cartoon and Internet Island later. I promise. I have to run now. But thanks so much.
Oh, and POD is actually a step up from vanity press. A small one. You can have an out-of-print book and do a POD press run and that's perfectly legitimate. I know a published writer who did that and it worked out well for her. However, you are correct in assuming that most POD is pretty lame because the quality control is not there.
Lynn
Oh dear, Mike. . .Please don't be so hard on yourself because Internet Island members like myself don't respond with real frequency. I read every word of your rant, and I feel I've got a better understanding of your ambitious hopes for the interesting blog ring you created, as well as your purposes for blogging. Here's my perspective: My father-in-law has a big sign hanging in his wood shop--"It's not a hobby if it's not fun!" That's how I approach my own blogging. It's my hobby, and I want no pressure attached to it at all. That's what work is for, you know? I'm already teetering on the edge of spending too much time with my computer, what with the school work I do at home, with maintaining my own Xanga, and making periodic visits and leaving comments for those writers on my sub list. I tool around with a couple of other "interactive" blog rings as well, and when I see a suggested topic that grabs me I write. Otherwise, I pass and make a mental note to come back and try another time. For me, there's nothing personal about declining a topic; I'm just budgeting my blogging time and energy. Please don't shut don't your Internet Island for any other reason than it's not working for you. I really hope you don't mind lurkers and occasional posters like myself, though. When I do take time to visit the other Islanders I usually read something entertaining or intriguing, and sometimes I meet someone whose work I want to read on a regular basis. I've had a few new subscribers because of my sparse participation, too, and that's fine by me. Take care, and happy blogging!
Now then, about your review of Brokeback Mountain. . .
Oops--should have said "don't shut down. . ."
:sunny: don't be discouraged. I think what you are doing is great. One suggestion I would have is to keep the topic posts sweet, short and simple. Maybe others would be less intimidated by the topic posts.
anyway, here is my belated entry to topic#6. Obviously I got tied up with work, illness and such... Which reminds me - maybe put in a clause about participating at least every 5wks, like on Socrates Cafe (athough this is on hold I think until Simone returns). otherwise, just give it more time.
I'm at the limit with blogrings, so I can't join the island.
I liked what you said about the Muslim cartoons. Really, my thoughts exactly. The drawings aren't even good. But there's a Pat Robertson in every religion and Denmark seems to have pissed off a lot of them. Which is really weird, because Denmark is one of the most laid-back, tolerant countries you'll ever visit.
The world is nuts.
