Internet Island Topic Post 4.00: New Year's Resolutions

Hello, fellow Internet Islanders. It's been over two weeks since the last Topic Post, and New Year's is coming up, so what better Topic Post than one centering around New Year's Resolutions. As usual, I want to make these topic posts fun, thoughtful, and interactive. There are currently 119 "Islanders". Each week a few drop out, a few join. Each time I present a Topic Post, I get more applications. I sometimes don't think I visit all the Islanders enough, but I do make a point to visit you when you participate in a blogring Topic Post. The first Post, "Five Questions" which dealt with our creativity and understanding of our fellow humans, received 64 responses. The second, on which I asked for observations concerning new and exciting favorite "Islanders" only received  29 responses. A lot of you thought I was asking you to "play favorites" although that was not the intent of the exercise. The last Topic Post where I asked you to describe a Fantasy Vacation netted 40 responses. Some people thought this was a difficult topic, and they had to think too hard.

In the interest of attempting to make this week's Topic Post a simple one, one in which every Islander should be able to post SOMETHING, I am asking for the "standard" New Year's Resolution Post, but with a twist. I always want to see you exercise your talents. Don't just post a list of things you wish to accomplish in 2006. You can, of course, if you want to, but I think this might be more interesting. Here are some examples of how to "spruce" up your entry about New Year's Resolutions for the Internet Island this week.

    1. What is the WORST New Year's Resolution you have ever broken?

    2. What is the BEST New Year's Resolution you have ever kept?

    3. Why do you make resolutions, or why don't you make them? Do you keep them, or are they "made to be broken."?

    4. If you have blogged on this service for a year or more, and have posted New Year's Resolutions before, revisit those past posts, and make an assessment of the Resolutions' worth or worthlessness.

I'd really like to see 119 responses to this question, which should tie in nicely with your "regular" New Year's Resolution post which you probably intended on writing this week anyway. Sunday is New Year's Day. 2006 will be here soon. If you know some "Islanders" who haven't participated in earlier Topic Posts, please let them know that I really want to see full participation this week if possible. As usual, the Topic Post will be up for about two weeks. Please write your response ON YOUR OWN BLOG. Please let us know it is ready by posting a comment on this entry with a link to yours. If you still don't know how to make a link, then just mention the date of the entry in the comment. (My Tutorial about how to make a link can be found HERE)

This is the fourth Topic Post, and I have mentioned before that I want Internet Island to be a Participatory Group, even when Topic Posts are not active. Please use the Internet Island Blogring to find new friends and interesting people. I am always attempting to visit new members and welcome them. I approved two new members just today. Perhaps since I am visiting new members, I have "forgotten" some of the older members. I don't want this to seem the case. I personally have "met" quite a few new bloggers through the ring, and through other rings to which I belong. There are a lot of "popular" bloggers in the ring, who always receive lots of comments. I'd like for the people who don't receive that many comments to find that more people are visiting them, and they are similarly making new friends. We ALL have something to contribute.

Remember, the tabs at the top of the Blogring Page will "sort" the members by latest post, date joined,  and alphabetical Username. Use the ring page to find new Islanders, or older ones you might not have visited in a while. It's OUR Island, and we're a great group of people with different interests, fantastic stories, and wonderful lives, and we have a great deal of love for our fellow man.

There are no "right" or "wrong" responses to any Topic Post for Internet Island. All responses are just as valid as any other response.

So, tell me. What are your best and worst New Year's resolutions?

Now an apology and a shameless plug. 1. Apology to Socrates Cafe members since I'm a member of that blogring and haven't participated in a while. I expect to participate this week and post a Topic Entry on Thursday, and use that day to visit fellow Socrates Cafe member topic entires for the latest Topic Posts. 2. Shameless Plug. The reason you aren't hearing music on WhenWordsCollide (the blog your are reading) this week is because I have one of my videos set up and ready to play on the entry below this. The video, "Arbitrimage Dreams" will stream directly from the YouTube site through the blog. There is also a link to a page where I keep more of my videos. Some of you might experience delays or no streams if you have older computer systems or dial up modems. Video takes a lot of room and sometimes the stream can stop. If you refresh the player, it might correct the problem. I've been trying to get my video online for quite a while, and I just love the YouTube service, which so far, is totally free. "Free" on the internet does tend to go away and be replaced by "pay" pretty quickly, so please feel free to enjoy the videos while you can. You cannot save them to your computer. I've already tried.
