EDIT: 11/8: 7:00pst: For those who might be wondering, I will add my own “topic post” entry on Wed. 11/9. In the meantime, thank you all for the support and participation. I haven’t even been able to leave a “welcome comment” on each of the 69 sites that have joined since Friday night. So until I do, welcome to all. Both those I know, and those I don’t, and I promise, I will say howdy personally. Just give me some more time.

Welcome to the Internet Island blogring. We currently have over 45 members. I must admit that I am overwhelmed by the response, since I only announced the formation of this blogring on Friday night’s entry. Besides the announcement on WhenWordsCollide, I sent an email invitation to EVERYONE on my subscription list, and asked them to invite people as well. I will admit that the “grand schemes” I outlined in Friday’s entry and in the “profile” for the group were rather large ones. I admit that I have not yet specifically talked about why I created this blogring or what I want to do with it. I will attempt to explain now, and post my first selection of “topics” about which members can blog.
The purpose of my “Internet Island” is to promote global understanding. This will take some time, perhaps years or decades. But every prophet needs a starting point from which to preach his mantras, and though I am no prophet, I want to instill in at least the members of the Xanga blogosphere who stop here, a sense of belonging and care. I want each of my “island denizens” to search for and eventually find the similarities in his fellow man, by reading topical essays, viewing artistic endeavors, and discussing events and ideas.
This is an attempt, though this medium we call blogging, to create a global family of understanding. I preach Tolerance of differering opinions. I want to teach what I have learned, and learn from you. Everyone on the planet is an expert in life, whether or not they know it now. I hope to show you that you are special, talented, and loved, even if you don’t know it, and if you do, then I hope you help me to show it to those who might not know this yet.
Interent Island is a “virtual” representation of the idea I had to actually “own” an island, and to create a paradise filled with contemplative, concerned citizens. You are those citizens. Let’s learn from each other.
This is an “active” blogring, and if you do not “participate”, then it is all right, but I hope you do. I want all the members of this blogring to get to “know” each other through our blogs. I did not create an “Internet Island” site as you probably have noticed. It would help for your participation in the blogring to subscribe to WhenWordsCollide (my blog that you are reading right now), as I will be posting blogring entires amongst my regular features. Some people can manage dozens of blog personas, but I am only me, and I will run the blogring through this site. Please subscribe, if you have not already done so, or visit often, so you do not miss any blogring related entries.
To make it easier to know what the “current” entry is, I will list the entry’s URL (or address) in the left hand “AllThingsMike Universe Module” under the “Jukebox this WeeK” feature, and also in the header. That way upon visiting this blog, you can instantly click on the link to “find” the current blogring entry. If I ask for “participatory posts” as I will in just a few moments, simply leave a comment on the “topic entry” and tell us where to find your post. You do this by leaving the URL to the entry itself (not to your blogsite main page) in the comments. If you do not know how to “post a link” Xanga makes it rather easy. Write the words “Here is my post” or something to that effect in a comment HERE on the topic post. “Highlight” the words with your mouse (while holding down the left mouse button). Click the “add link” text to the upper left of the comment box. A “window” with a place to put the URL (address) of your post will appear. Go to your own site in another browser window. Click “comments” on the entry to which you wish to link. Highlight the URL at the top of your browser window. “Copy” (right click the mouse, and select “copy” ) Go back to my blog, and “Paste” the URL in the window that says “Script Prompt” then click OK. The window disappers, and a “link” to your entry appears where the text you wrote saying “Here is my post” is located in the comment box. (Feel Free to Email Me at any time with questions)
Here are some things I will not do with this blogring. I will not “kick anybody off the island” unless they do not follow proper “netiquette”. No flaming or disrespecting of others’ opinions is allowed. We practice tolerance and respect for differing opinions. I will NEVER ask for you to VOTE for anything. If you have topic suggestions, then relay them to me via comments on a “topic post”. (Topic Posts will always have the “Internet Island” logo at the top of the entry. You may copy this image to your computer and use it on your entries too if you wish. ) No site on this blogring is more important than any other. This is not a “popularity contest.” This blogring is not about getting “Featured Content.” It is not a game of “tag” or a mindless exercise in blogthings. Nor is it a studied discussion of philosophy or religion, although we might discuss both in the course of our exchanges. No one is to be made to feel inferior to anyone else. In my “world view” and on my island every one is equal.
We are all part of the world. Our address may be in Timbuktu or the USA, but we are all human beings inhabiting this planet. We are not computer programs or “personas”, although you might blog as somebody other than you “given self”. That’s okay. I do like to address you in my comments to you, so please let me know by what name to call you when I visit your site.
I am covering a bit too much here perhaps, so now I will give you your first “assignment.” It is a three part assignment. The first part is something I want you to do on your own. Some of you who have joined who do not “know” me have already sent me either an email, a guestbook posting, or dropped a comment on yesterday’s or today’s entry to say “Hi”. I want each of you in the blogring to go to the blogring site, and look over the membership. Visit the sites of those you don’t know and say “howdy”. Read a few entries. Leave comments. Mention shared friendships or readers. Get to know one another. I don’t want this to be a blogring where there are hundreds of members who don’t know one another. Don’t be shy. I intend on visiting each of you who I don’t know and getting to know you either later tonight or tomorrow. No “assignment” or “topic” will only last a week, as on most “topic blogrings.” Some of you have “real lives”, children, jobs, responsibilities. I don’t want anyone to “miss out” because “real life got in the way.” We all have blogs, so we spend some time on the comptuter hooked up to the internet. Each topic will take two weeks, so that we can communicate with each other in a “liesurely” manner. Just because we’re living in an “age of information” with said info bomarding us daily, doesn’t mean that we should “rush” anything on “our island”.
The second part is to look over your “Xanga profile” and update it so that I or anyone else can get a “thumbnail” description of who “you” are just by looking at your profile. I certainly don’t want anyone who has had a longstanding profile to change it on my account. A lot of times the profile is the first thing we write when joining Xanga, and sometimes we do this before we even know what blogging is, and we don’t really thing about what we post to the world, so if you would, please take a few moments to look it over and make sure you are satisfied with it.
The third part of the assignment is the actual first “blog topic” entry I want your to write/present. Use your talents and your “style” if you already have one for your blog, and “introduce” yourself to the readership of the blog. This is the “post” I want you to “enter” in the comments section here as outlined above. (That is, write on your own blog, and ”post” a link in the comments on this entry.) Write a short “autobiography” of what you want your new blogring friends to know about you. Chances are you are blogging about your life all the time, or at least your viewpoints on matters, and you probably have a general readership who “knows” you. Suppose for a moment, as the member of a new blogring, that nobody who visits “knows” you, and write a bit about yourself. You can be very brief with this entry. Then pick one or more, or even all of these topics to write about or present in some way on the same entry as your “introduction”. Think of this as one of those “blogthing questionnaires.” Follow each point with a brief set of reasons why you feel you are one, the other, or both. Answer as many as you can. There are no RIGHT or WRONG answers.
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it.
This Entry will be linked to in the header and in the AllThingsMike Universe module to the left of your screen, under the “Jukebox”. In two weeks, probably on Sunday, November 20th, I will have another topic for you to ponder. Basically, as I mentioned on Friday, this is “meet and greet” for two weeks. I like the quantity of members we have. I have run groups on Yahoo, and over 50 can become too unwieldy. I DO want all the members of the blogring to get to know each other, and me, in the next two weeks.
Thank you for joining. Let’s have fun, friendship, and understanding.
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool
(And you can call me Michael or Mike. “Baldmike2004″ is just my “Xanga handle” that I created when I joined Xanga in 2004. It isn’t my name.)

Dear Islanders,
This Update/Edit is being posted at 8:00pm pst 11/08/05. I noticed the two sites listed above on Featured Content this evening. I always love to see sites I regularly read making Featured. I don’t know if you guys want this kind of “Xanga Noteriety.” but I have seen Featured Grownups and Socrate’s Cafe entries make Featured, and I have been featured on an FG post myself last Sept. 11th. I’m pleased as punch myself. Congrats, ladies. MFN

1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER. This depends on my mood. I think I’m a better listener, but I do both.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER. Again, I’m both. I can write very well sometimes, and I read when I’m interested in something.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art. I took 3 courses of art, but I don’t consider myself an artist, I admire.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality. I am a very spiritual person, this is reflected on my Xanga.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it. Well, I care deeply about the work, I really do, but I’m pretty satisfied with my life right now in every sense except spiritually, there’s always room to improve there.
At your service,
Troy
All right, I’ll do an entry on that next up. Unless I end up getting drunk as hell tonight. Which is, truly, very possible.
I’m up for it Michael — this will help us really get to know one another and I like that
Hello,
Mike this sounds like so much fun! I will do my best. I don’t know what to put on my profile, I dont really think theres much to say, but I will think about it.
I always go through each newe blogring I join and say hello.
Somerimes I get a response sometimtes I don’t.
I love your idea , Michael, this should be interesting and I will be brutally honest.
Peace and Love:)
Ok Mike…visiting is a good way to start…soo over the next week or so I’ll go meet and greet. Peace Mia Lucia
is it anything like “survivor” sometimes?
I know this will seem slow witted..but dern ..seriously..is there a lnik to the blog ring lurking here that I am missing.?..I tried search and OMG are there a lot of blogrings with “Island”in the name..and “internet”..well its like the phone book so I humbly ask for help…… Mia Lucia
Thanks and Thanks..I used to teach special ed…and i was good at it in part because i was as attention deficit and addled as my students.I knew how they processed things and what they needed to take stuff in….people like me can think just fine,,but we are easily overwhelmed by lots of info…so I taught them to ask when confused….because I know it makes my life easier,,,probably most important thing I ever taught them, ” stunning” eh? now thats an ego prop for sure.:)
tolerance … yes tolerance until i am in danger. really, i think it’s all outlined already with objectivism and taoism. the first to identify right from wrong, and the latter to understand how to interact with your environment.
Mike, maybe it’s just me right now, but I know I don’t have the time to participate that this will require. I’ll pop in and out when I can if you don’t mind. It’s a good project, but I don’t see myself participating often right now. Glad you’re doing it though, and hate the thought that I’m chosing to not do it.
Altruism and utopias are usually the province of earnest teenagers who put the world to rights over coffee, joints and mellow music late into the night. Its nice to see you have kept your ideals.
Truly there is only one golden rule, no matter what religion or philosophy is followed: to do unto others as we would have done to ourselves. If that were followed, which it never is, we would all live in a state of happy anarchy, there being no need for more than the barest minimum of government and no need for police at all. Good luck with your blog ring, its a lovely idea.
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER. It depends, if I feel like venting or complaining, I talk a lot, but I any other time, I’m a listener.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER. I love to read. I would say I’m a reader, but I have tried my hand at writing. It’s not very good, that’s why I prefer to read other people’s writing than my own.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art. I can’t draw or paint worth anything so I definitly admire art. When I took Humanities II, it was all about art and music fron the past and I fell deeper in love with that kind of stuff.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality. Yes, I believe in Spiritual essence.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it. I care about the state of the world, but after awhile it’s all you hear about. :::to the president and higher up people:::Yeah we know it’s bad, but what are you going to do about it?
I decided I’ll give it a shot, if I can’t keep up I’ll just drop out, but I hope I’ll be able to last a little while
.
peace out and take care.

This is a fantastic idea, Mike.
I’m really pleased there are so many members of Internet Island already!! I’ll certainly be taking part in the topics, time permitting of course. Thanks for inviting me to the island.
Can we call you Mr. Mike? Because…that’s what I like to call you.
I’ll work on the assignment tonight…I have to work today, so it’ll have to wait.
Great job by the way…Very organized, and you have wonderful ideas. The number of members you have gained since Friday is impressive! Way to go…
Okay Mike, I have responded to your questionnairre and will take the next two weeks to visit and get to know other ring members. Thank you for being you and for caring about working towards making the world a better place.
Simone
Oh look at me, I forgot to leave the link!
Greetings Your Royal BaldMikeness.
I am now a member of the Island.
Thank you for the invitation.
I am very honored.
Sincerely,
Ed Kaz
I had joined as a favor to a good friend who had invited me, not having heard of the InternetIsland blogring beforehand, but I like the concept and am looking forward to participating. I’ll have to give this assignment some thought before I return to post a link!

Here is my entry!
ryc: the main problem i have is that historical sins continue to be compounded today- the stupidity continues and the debt we owe grows greater each year until we will never be able to pay it back- ever….. we should be better than this by now!!!!
I just joined the Socrate’s Cafe and I dont have room for more blogrings, so I cant join yours right now! Sorry! But I like it, and might use the topics now and then. Hope you will still come visit me.
You picked 80′s music too!! too funny!
How about Baldy? hehe J/K!! Mike it is!
~Mia
thanks for the invite, mike. i must say this is very intriguing, and i have been looking to rearrange my blogrings and join a couple of new ones. when i get around to it (hopefully soon), i’ll hold yours in high consideration. i think you’ve got something here.
Hi MIke. I am Nancy or Nance. I am very intrigued by this blog ring. I have written my first blog and will visit others over the next 2 weeks. Here’s my link Internet Island #1.

Well I shall do my best to make it to everyone’s site on here. I am very happy to see you gave a 2 week period to complete the first assignment.
I would love to visit the Island. What a great idea !!!! I’m more of an observer.
Hi Mike… I would LOVE to join this blogring! However, I think I will wait until after NaNo is finished. Too many irons in the fire you know!
Look for my request to join in Dec.!!!
~overwhelmed~
K.L.
I am a reader vs. a writer and lately admitted to myself that the reason I don’t write is because I could not take criticsm. It would stop me altogether
I have not had any takers yet on your blogring.
Mike, I need to come back with an entry, when I have one-lol! Wanted to answer your comment. Definitely check out Leonida’s site. He writes on a lot of topics with a depth, humor and intelligence. Be back later.
Laurie
I just visited the blogring and realized that I am “safe” now!!!! Hooray!!! I will be finding new friends here!
Hi Mike,
I do not know how to leave a link, so I am just going to say that I have done the first “assignment”. Maybe you can talk me through how to leave a link?
Thanks
Alicia
Hello Michael,
Thanks for coming by. Yes, I think I have told everyone almost everything about me, good and bad.. haha
I am going to meet the members after dinner. I think a few I already know , but not all.
This is going to be fun I betcha!
Peace and Love:)
Mike, I need to learn to link yet, but mine is up! (It’s inclusive, with the post below it).
Laurie
This is incredibly ambitious.
My doubts lie not with your dedication, but in that of those who may try to participate in something, keeping these ideals in mind.
I wish I had the time to really give it the time that it deserves, though I’m considering it.
I’m in.
actually the link is right here, mr. mike could u delete my last comment please
here’s the real link.
the post
Here is my post. Thanks
Thoughts through my looking glass to ponder…
what Karolyn found there…
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER.
This is a good one! I like to talk and I like to listen! But what I like does not mean that I am good at it. At work I’m a good talker in terms of teaching, instructing as a resource person. I can be a good listener if I know someone needs to be heard. Listening on Xanga is easy but not all feel they are heard.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER.
As a reader I do my fair share. A little of both reading, writing and arithmetic. As a writer I can put together my thoughts but then I go off on tangents. I have been know to compose a pretty mean letter when in the right mood. If in the right frame of mind I have been know to put a few words together.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art.
I would like to think of myself as an artist. An artist of life! My life is the canvas. I started out with a white jetso canvas blank and I have like the Masters reworked and retouched and painted over my canvas. I can’t sign it yet until it is not complete.
I do admire art! It takes such an eye and hand to translate feelings, sounds, smells, textures and ideas onto a blank canvas, slab of clay, or block of wood .I envy any artist who has the guts to do what they do and place it in the critical and prejudice eye of the world.
Oh! I care about art. Art is the essences of man’s aspirations, man’s ideas, man’s beliefs and man’s potential for self realization.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality.
I was raised Roman Catholic. My mother was Church of Scotland but she promised to raise me Catholic which she did religiously. As a young child I was so influenced by the nuns that in my childish heart I thought it would be so romantic to be a nun(ie. The Nun’s Story~Audrey Hepburn). Therefore I would say ,yes I believe in the Spiritual essence. But then I question life and living and become somewhat skeptical of my belief of Spirituality. I experienced that just before my total left hip replacement this October. Life had lost all meaning pain is a very convincing skeptic in terms of life’s value. Quality comes to mind. Pain pierces the worthwhileness of reason and rational thought. The spiritual being questions the essence of life when submerged in suffocating pain.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it.
I don’t care”deeply” ;but’ I do care about the state of the world because :I believe it will go on regardless. The world is ‘doomed to repeat it’s mistakes. Man has still not learned the lessons of tolerance. Yes ,I have become apathetic about the worlds current events they are reruns ,tapes that have been colored and retouched like old movies. No I am not totally satisfied with life. It can always be better. I am still learning and making mistakes. Or am I making mistakes and learning. Does the order make the difference?
OOPS! I was to link! Sorry ! I’ll try next timeto link my post! I’ll have ti figure that out!
Karolyn
ok i give up, i was going to try to respond but i have dial up, your site is impossible, sorry it did look like an interesting one
RYC: I see your icon on other sites. I have not commented here but have been here once or twice. You DID visit my site once and even left a comment. (Featured Grownups weekend a month or so back..). I think I will like the island, and thanks for the thoughtful comment.
RYC: hey no sweat…welcome to my life…lol…this sounds like so much fun…I can’t wait
.
peace out and take care.

Mike,
I enabled comments on mine.
Hello Mike. I found you by way of a few of your readers and thought I would come by. As I went back and became more familiar with your site I have to say I like your style of writing. So therefore I hope you don’t mind that I have subscribed to you. I may also join your newest blogring if you have no objections. Have a fantastic week. Tami
Good morning Mike, nice place you have here. I look forward to getting to know my fellow islanders and I will work on the assignments as I find time. I guess I’ll start with a “real” profile. Have a wonderful day.
Morning Mike,
I have answered your questions last night and they are posted.
Have a good day in California:)
Peace and Love:)
Thanks for your very lovely comment on my blog, Mike. It is so nice to receive comments that show that the blog has actually been read and understood!
I am looking forward to the development of this blog ring. I am not terribly interested in making featured content, but I am interested in engaging in discussion with other Xangans. I appreciate the fact that you are providing topics. I read many sites on which the owner chronicles the daily events of his/her life, and I love those sites, but it is nice also to actively discuss.
Are you going to write a blog and answer your own questions/statements? I hope you do. That would be very nice for those of us who do not already know you well.
I read the blog above this one. You are a very talented poet!
My blog is specifically for poetry but I’ll try to reveal more of myself there.
Hi Mike, Thank you for the explanation about Internet Island. I’ll jump in on the next assignment, if my job doesn’t keep me away. (It’s been unpredictable these days) I love the idea and look forward to it. Take care and thank you for being our leader.

I have done my writing…now…well later today…I go read… iashineon
I want to try this…but it might take me awhile. Is that okay?
Well, I seem to have been born yesterday because I still don’t seem to be able to add a link as you so carefully described in your post. Denise told me once and it worked for a bit and then I forgot…but what you describe seems to be the same thing but whenever I try it, it simply doesn’t work. Someday I’ll figure it out. For now all I can say is I POSTED…and I posted on this day of November 8, 2005.
Okay, I just did mine.
Here is my entry
Sounds like a good blogring, I will stop back tomorrow and check out others in the blogring…..
Here is my link, Mike.

hi…I joined the group through Renaissance Lady! Nice to meet you
Mike, I am posted now on your topic. I appologize for not getting to it sooner but I have a lot going on. Someone has to please teach me how to link neatly in a comment box. Please? I figured out how to do it in an entry but what about in a comment field? I like it where it says [link] and you can click it and you go there rather than the whole ugly http address. That technique has seemed to elude me. I am still new so… if someone wants to drop me a comment or an email, I would sure appreciate it rather than make others dig it up all the time!
Hope all is going well with you Mike. I love this idea! I for see some great things coming out of this! ~Namaste, T.L. (yes, Barbi!) ::laughs::
POSTED
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER. It depends on who I’m with. When I’m comfortable I can be quite chatty. I have always been a listener though.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER. I’ve been a reader a lot longer than a writer. In high school I wrote for our newspaper. I have journaled on and off over the years and have been blogging almost a year. I don’t think my blog qualifies as “writing” though. It’s pretty fluffy stuff. Some here are very excellent writers.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art. I admire and appreciate art and architecture, man made and natural, but haven’t an artistic bone in my body.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence. I’m not sure. I continue to search and struggle with this one.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world. Yes, very much, though I seem to be beyond (or before?) the activism stage of life at the moment.
Well, okay, I survived the first Island challenge.
Hello! I am going to try to make this happen. LOL Let’s see how it goes.
Here is my blog.
Friends call me Kat by the way. Hope to meet everyone on here sometime soon.
Ok, Mike, here is mannaangst’s post.
My post has been submitted.
Ciao.
There is my post for the introduction to Internet Island over here
Hello Mike, I’ve posted my answers to the Topic. Thanks.
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER.
A talker always. I always had interesting things to sday and I’m kinda used to people listening.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER.
I write. These days I dont have the patience to write much and restrict and writing to screenplays and syuch. I’m into adevertsing and “write ” with both pictures and words.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./
I’m musician , so I guess you could say I am a sort of “artist”.
As for paintings, I like impressionist painters
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality.
I like George Lucas’ concept of “The Force”, athat had a good as well as a bad side to it. That is the only kind of spirituality that has merit, in my opinion. I absolutlely reject the idea of an old man in a white beard up there looking over us!
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it.
I do care, and would like to play an active part in improving the world as we know it.
Thanks for dropping by the castle. I always enjoy your visits.
Take Care,
~M K~

Internet Island Blogring info
1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER. ~ I am both, but primarily a talker.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER.~ Both again. Reading everything I can get my hands on. I do have 1 published poem, but basically write for fun.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art.~ Love art in many forms. From the canvas to music, writing, dance & acting. Trying to expose my children to as many different forms as possible. Can help make a pretty damn good school project as well.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality.~ Spiritual, yes. Religious, No.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it. ~ Sometimes too much. Helping others who are less fortunate is like second nature. The Vietnam War affected me greatly as a child & really helped form who I am today. Life as I know it is pretty good, although I tend to bitch a lot about it. Hormones + a smart mouth = dangerous! LOL!
Peace, ~C~
Hi, is the theme What is Art? and do I post here? Hope I got it right.
Sorry, I read a bit more and realized I had mistaken Socrates cafe’s question and now have seen yours. I fairly new at blogrings. Now I will answer yours. This is a great initiative.
Okay, found this through another member, lol. Disregard my earlier question to today’s blog.

Greetings!
I just joined and have posted my meet and greet at this place, http://www.xanga.com/Lunimar/384088756/item.html (I really don’t know how to clean that up with a true link so the words’ll have to do.
I’ll be sure to go around and read some posts and comment later.
Thanks!

1. I am a TALKER. / I am a LISTENER. I am more of a talker than listener. I try to make a concerted effort to listen actively. But one on one, I am opinionated and have life’s experiences which I choose to share. I thrive on conversation which goes both ways effectively.
2. I am a READER/ I am a WRITER I am a writer. Right now, I feel emotions and stories that I need to share. I had an awesome English lit teacher in high school. We are 30+ years out of high school and Bryan Duff is remembered endearingly by all who he taught. He instilled a form of writing which I see witnessed by several former classmates. At least one member is a book writer and Mr. Duff is mentioned in his forward of his books. Thank goodness for word processing and spell/grammar check and thesauruses.
3. I am an ARTIST/ I admire art./ I don’t care about art. Oh, I care about art! I admire it. Most assuredly colors.
4. I believe in a Spiritual essence./ I am skeptical of Spirituality. I believe in Spiritual essence. I profess to be a Christian but am learning to embrace all faiths. It’s ongoing for me.
5. I care deeply about the state of the world/ I am apathetic about current events/ I am satisfied with life as I know it. I am satisfied with life as I know it. I learned with Desert Storm that I can not control a world larger than me. I flounder in that arena but I am definite on embracing cultures. The changes start with you and me.
Hi Mike. I posted my Island Intro Entry. Now I must go play sleep.
BE blessed!
Steve
Greetings Mike. I’ve read many blogs of Islanders and decided to join. Here is my link. Thanks for this, I think it is going to be a great community on Xanga.
Okay. This looks like fun. My first island entry can be found here.
doing mine now……..
RYC Thanks for stopping by and “tweaking” my memory. I get lost sometimes. Yes, I was one of the first since I thought it a grand idea.
I am a READER: I have more than 2,000 books in my house and garage! I am going to have to revert to paperbacks, I think. Someone asked why I don’t give books I have read away. I reply that they become a part of me when I really like a book. So I don’t keep all of them, but I surely do like a lot of them!!
The reason I am not a WRITER: I think deep inside I am afraid of critism and would be embarrassed for anyone to read my thoughts or efforts. When I write, it is on Xanga as a comment, etc.
My POST is ready.
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool,
and blogring leader.
Interesting experinment Mike. Thank you for letting me know – you sparked my curiosity and joined your island. I do not know how much time I will have to visit around in the blogring. I struggle just to get to those people who frequent “The way of the Warrior-Wizard.” I have lost my identity somewhere in my office between the piles of books…as soon as I found it I will write an intro on my Xanga. You have started on a great journey with a great responsibility to uphold the Island you have created.
Thanks for staying in touch.
Here is mine: oOo_Jennifer_oOo.
Are you feeling lucky!!! Try again: Warrior-Wizard
MMMMmmmmm yeeeaaaaahhhh that one is working!!! Sorry Mike. Please forgive the confusion and delete all the comments with the non working URL’s.

hey mike, how are you? i’m charlie. this is my http://www.xanga.com/xkisstherailx/385752939/entry-for-the-blogring-internetisland.html
hope you have a good day. take care.
Hi Mike. I would really appreciate it if you would continue to post the links at the top of the topic assignment (there’s that word again!) blogs. I have my doubts that people will read through the comments to find the links. Also, we seem to have people who can’t make links. If you need help keeping up with it, perhaps there are people who would help you. I would be happy to do that.
I just would love to see people actually reading each other’s topic blogs. I am not sure that is happening now. I know that many people are commenting on my other blogs rather than my topic blog, and many of the topic blogs I have visited (I have visited all the blogs on your list as of the time this comment is written) do not have many comments. It would be so great if most of us were reading most of the topic blogs so that we were really exchanging ideas and getting to know each other.
Perhaps the blogring will settle down to a manageable size as people discover whether or not they really want to make the rounds and read.
Thanks for putting my ‘link’ up. I was going to try to tackle it again. But you did it for me. Thank you very much. I scroll to see your comments places. Very informed.
OK, I have completed the entry for the first Internet Island topic. It’s here.
Hi Mike…. thanks for the invite… should be quite a journey..
1. I am a listener, I love to listen and feel it is quite an art to REALLY listen to people.
2. I am a writer, don’t get me wrong, I am not proclaiming to be a talented writer, what I mean by this is that I prefer to write than read but love to do both.
3. I admire Art.
4. I strongly believe in a spiritual essence and last but not least I am very strongly concerned about the state of the world.
Jennifer
Okay my entry is up.Thanks Mike.
And here is mine
…
Hello Mike,
Just letting you know that I posted my response to the topic.
-Josh
OK let me try that again…. here is my first post to internet island.
I’ve been soaking up the sun in San Clemente. I :heartbeat: bodyboarding. But I’m home now, where the ocean is cold and dirty. *sigh* Voila!! Here is my entry! I accidently kept the exclaimation point in my link. I like it. I think I’ll keep it. Thanks for your patience Michael, I was playing. :sunny:
Here is my post. Thanks…Carmen
I have listed answers to the topic for InternetIsland.
Hi! I am very excited to have made it to the Island! Gosh, it will take me a while to figure out some of the things on here, such as linking and so on – I am not computer savvy; but I have already met some new people!
I posted my answers in my last post dated 11/15/2005. I will look into how to link directly to the entry realting to the topic de la semaine, hopefully by the next time. For now, just click on my name below this entry, and “poof” you will be taken to my site.
I figured out how to link directly to my answers. Here goes nothing…
My answers to Topic Post #1.00
Ok well that did not work. I did what I did last time, well here goes nothing…
My answers, maybe the third time will work…
“>my answers
I give up…for now
I’ll TRY to link! Uh-oh, where’s the link!
One more time…http://www.xanga.com/suzyQ_darnit/388118839/item.html
Okay – so first I have to copy it from my site, paste it here, and THEN click on “Add Link” and copy it THERE, and THEN it worked! Hope that helps other computer illiterate people like me out there! At least, I think that works. Better test it first!
It works!!! : )
my answers
This time it actually worked. I guess this posting of links thing is hit or miss for me, but at least this time it worked. Persistance is the key.
:wave:noticed you had stopped by-wondered where your questionaires are?

1. I am most definately a listener .. even in times when I would love to talk it seems someone else needs to talk and perhaps one of the services to my fellow humans is that I chose was to be a good listener .. so I usually listen .
2. I am a voracious reader and have always loved to write and wish I could write something so meaningful it could change the world and who knows maybe I will !
3.I consider myself an artist in many ways , I sing , I create jewelry , I can paint creatively, I love to take photographs of nature and all her beauty … yes I do consider myself an artist ..
4.I am Spiritual Essence .. I accepted that role years ago and I realize that there is a reason for every single circumstance I enter in my life no matter how tiny and seemingingly insignificant .. I am healer, teacher, dreamer, visionary and seer and most of all companion to many who walk beside me and I love the role I have chosen to wear this lifetime
5. I care very much about the state of the world, even if I sometimes feel helpless to do much about it . I do not however engage in taking sides and arguing with anyone about the state of the world .. I believe meditation and prayer can move more mountains that anything else .. that is MY belief .. and I am sticking to it
As for my life I am absolutely happy and find the joy in each and every day .. I understand that I have created every single incidence in my life as a lesson for my spiritual growth. I accept that at this moment in time I am exactly where I am supposed to be and am poised to where I am going . My acceptance of all of this has made my life much easier and I share my Peace and Joy with everyone in my life !
This was a great idea – its nice to sit and reflect once in a while – if we all did it every single day – imagine how much more balanced we would all be with one another and ourselves

ok……Mike, I’m looking forward to the topic. I just knew that everyone would have one weeks start on me upon my return from vacation! I know better, but would like to think you were waiting for me! tehehe! So, now, it’s back to life and I’m looking for my diversion. Lana
I am a TALKER….I love to ramble on, I hate living inside the boundaries of my mind/ I am a listener. You have to listen to HEAR what is right in front of you! I am a WRITER. Currently taking a writing course. I am also a metaphoric poet. I am an admirer of art, an artist and frankly, as with everything in life there are some things I don’t care much about. I beleive STRONGLY in a spiirtual essence. One God, Many spirits and more need to appreciate all views about the belief that there is ONE GOD! I care deeply about the state of the world. I practice PEACE and believe it starts at home. I am constantly striving to make my world, my community a more peaceful place to be!
