ATTENTION:
Anyone who has visited this blogsite today (11/1) might have been infected with a benign (I understand) code which inserts a “pop-up” message on your blog. The pop up reads: “Alot of people are going to WTF me for this, and maybe wonder who I am. Just remember: The guy with the two HACKER bracelets @ NMHS“.You will not “see” the pop up in “editor” mode, only in “public preview” mode. I understand that I might have visited another site that had this code and was infected from the other site. I have since removed the code from my Xanga. The hackers designed the code to be inserted into the “expertise” field in the profile settings. They also deleted any “interests” and “expertise” text that was already there, so right now my “interests” column does not have the text that is usually there. Hopefully, I saved my “interests” or else I will have to rewrite them when I get home from work.
I apologize if my site has infected yours. If you saw a “pop up” when you got here, then chances are you are infected, too. Go to your “profile” page, and in the box labelled “interests” and “expertise” DELETE the code that is not yours. Your “interests” and “expertise” boxes will have to be rewritten. If you come upon another blog that has a “pop up” you might have to clean the code from your page again.
I certainly hope Xanga is working to stop the hackers from spreading this inconvenience further.
