More moonshots. These were taken last night, the 29th, and the images in the camera looked far better than when I got them into the computer, so I had to do some "digital tweaking" in the ACDSee program to lighten up the clouds. These were taken at about 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. The cloud cover was magnificent.
The image above shows the "harvest moon" sized disc of our neighbor partially covered by wisps of clouds. This display lasted about an hour, and was visually a lot more stunning than the photographs show, since at night the eye can discern muted colors, but the camera shows mostly "black and white".
The image above was shot through some tree branches using the flash. This sort of looks like a "Hallowe'en Photo" of the full moon. It's a bit "scary".
The images above and below are more shots of the moon surrounded by clouds. If I increase the exposure, the moon gets really bright, but I can "see" the clouds through the lens. By decreasing the exposure, the "landscape" of the moon shows, but the clouds disappear. I have tried increasing the exposure in the computer but the picture washes out somewhat.
I always think it is neat to have a full moon, or partially full moon during the Hallowe'en season. I even wrote a poem about it a few years ago, which I will post right now, to satisfy my poem readers and my photography viewers. The poem was written in 2001, a mere month of course after the attacks on the WTC in New York.

poetry on Hallowe'en night
Amidst the horrorific feelings that the world is feeling now
On a Halloween night, where the full moon shines bright
I am locked in a struggle between the heart and mind
For comprehension of the meaning
What is right?
What can I find?
I am rational, and ready for the answers that I seek
Who answers clearly now, and who can wonder how
This feeling that I'm feeling is wrong, and so unclear
I'm helpless, hurt, and angry
Have we dealt the final blow?
Is humanity doomed to despair?
It will all come out in the wash, I will proclaim
It has to be all right, we will prevail into the night
But something tells me friends it is the beginning of the end
I've read it since inception
Proclamations bourne of second sight
And disparate messages to send
But as the neighbor's kids are screaming as they always do
On a Hallowe'en night, whern the full moon shines bright
Under a haze of suspicion and deep regret
It doesn't really matter
Who knows if anything's all right
And someday hasn't happened yet.
(short, sweet, sad, solid, another poor excuse for poetry from a conflicted soul.)

The best photograph I have taken of the moon was in the Alps one bright winter's morning at about 10:30, the sun was no match for this day-time moon and I used my newspapers 2000 mm telephoto lens and filled the frame with this eery moon.
The old Celtic Samhain that was turned into All Hallows Eve by the Christians, has in the last ten years returned to the UK big-time! Now scores of yobs armed with eggs walk the streets demanding money or else.
I often stand outside and watch the moon on those nights where it's at it's most beautiful. I live in the country areas so it's always the clearest view imaginable...Not hindered behind anything but the occasional floating cloud...I sometimes want to get some photo's...but I don't have a camera that would do it justice...And I can't destroy what I see...So I keep her to myself.
