Some random thoughts and observations. 1. I was listening to an NPR report this morning coming into work detailing the fact that "America is getting older". The report centered on centinerians, people who have lived to 100 years old or more. The reporter said there are over 60,000 people in the U.S. who are over 100. Then they elaborated that there are 44 people who are over 110. 2. As I was finishing my "fastwalk" around our business park this morning, there were two other guys out "running". I walked past them, and one proclaimed, "You're walking faster than we're running, and you have a nice healthy stride!" I called back at them as I passed for my second lap, " I don't run because of my ten year old hip replacement." I wonder if I'll be doing as well when I'm 100? 3. The full moon is waning a bit, but it's still glorious, and I have actually seen it the past few nights and mornings, which I wasn't able to do for most of the summer, as there was a hefty marine layer over the South Bay most mornings. Of course now that my camera is in the shop, I can't take any pictures for my moonshots gallery. Here's hoping that I'll get some nice "harvest moon photos" in October and November. 4. Tonight is the first Presidential debate, and I'll be planted firmly in front of my bigscreen at 6pm this afternoon. I'm predicting that this election will see the largest voter turnout in history, and I'm also predicting that the Democrats will get the White House back from the Republicans, which should have happened with Gore four years ago, but didn't because of certain happenings in Florida. I can remember gritting my teeth when Bush became President, and bracing for the worst. I hope the worst is over come November. I'll be voting, and in California, we have 16 measures on the ballot to vote for or against, as well. This is the most propositions I can remember in my history of voting. 5. It's getting busier at work, and a client just asked for a quote for the Air Force "this morning" as if I will drop everything and concentrate on putting his quote ahead of the three or four already on my desk. Well, the guy did buy a panel last month, so he'll be getting some special treatment, but not a lot. Like I always say, as I adjust my cape, "I'm not Superman!"

Dear Mike...what amazing shots !!!!!! I love the moon as well...mostly when it's full !!!!!! I always try to have a look at it ...and it's really a pitty you"ve missed this last one...was bright...beautifully silver...and with a circle surrounding it with all the colours from the rainbow!!!!I hope your camera is fixed for next one...
I also hoped that the Republicans disappear ...not to come back!!!
Thanks for passing by!!!
Love from Holland!!!!!
Sounds like you may live to be one of those centinerians, I'd love a shot at that one myself.
I'll be planted in front of that screen as well.
Have a great day,
I hope you are walking when you are 100 and I hope I am too. Oh, I tried some moon shots this morning and didn't get much. Also, getting older may not be that super but I like it to the alternative.
will enjoy looking at your photos but as to your comment on my site. No, not pop-ups but a deliberate script virus type file. here is the link but seperated out. if you want to copy it and enter into your browser to go to it and give it a shot, have at it.

put this in front of it, http://www.
I should have looked at the properties beforehand but didn't. It was hidden under words as the link to a Bush/Kerry page. I should have known better.
Enjoyed some moon photos and read your previous blog which was very well written and yes, war is not and never will be what it was and how it was. We live in a very different world than we did in 1942, 3, 4, 5. I hope whomever comes into office will realize what the stakes are and do what is right. I will support whoever but to think a change will fix tomorrow what has taken these years for things to become is a misguided notion. If we change the horses who are now in harness, all that has been done that is progress will be undone so, 4 wasted years.
I will wait and see what comes of it all. To know the children of today will be left with the mess is a sad bit of knowledge.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Beach Dreams. The sandpipers were a favorite of my mothers and you had some great shots of them. Really a fun movie clip. Thanks for the invite to the movies.

what a charming place. so enjoyed the photos! also enjoyed the debates. what were your thoughts about outcome and so on? i like hearing your political thoughts expressed so well in your pages here.
thanks for the post to my "portrait" of my daughter. i think you are the only one that understood that it was a painting. i write in a convoluted, cryptic way sometimes. it was actually a painting that she did herself. just gorgeous. she will graduate in May and leave for art school next Fall. I guess following her momma's footsteps in a way. I am a designer but she is choosing fine arts- probably focusing on photography.
