THE WEBSITE IS BEING DESTROYED!
The Server Knows no God Other than the MegaByte. If one deems it necessary to expand one’s Universe, then one has to pay, or one has to Destroy The Website!

I can’t afford to pay any more money. (I was joking to Cancerboy when I opened my mail I had two new credit cards from Discover Card. “Here’s two, Give one to a friend!) The AllThingsMike Server costs $240.00 a year. I have exceeded the 250 Megabytes of space allocated for that particular plan. When I transferred the website from Telocity, which was also my DSL provider prior to going out of business, I knew I was getting near the space limit, but face it, $240.00 a year is enough to pay, don’t you think? It’s a good thing I don’t have all those “readers” I always wanted to have in the beginning, however. There is an excellent site called JibJab, run by Gregg & Evan Spiridellis. These guys used to put lots of animation on the web, at their expense, and recently became “famous” when their parody of the Bush and Kerry Presidential Race, “This Land Is Your Land” was featured on NBC. Their server became overloaded with the amount of people who now accessed the various cartoons, but especially the “This Land” (You owe it to yourself to follow the link and play the animation if you haven’t seen it. It’s a bipartisan laugh a thon.) cartoon. They had to take down the other cartoons on the site.
Well, I’m not overloaded with hits. Never have been, and although I always put AllThingsMike up in the first place as a repository for my “art and literature”, my “electronic experiment in art”, it has mainly been for my amusement. I have always proclaimed I’d keep it online as long as I could pay for it, and I can’t pay more, so I, like the Spiridellis brothers, have to start taking some content off my site.
The first thing to go was “ElvisMovies” from the “ElectricMovies” site. I even posted it here on the Xanga Blog so that interested parties could watch it. (I don’t remember anyone even commenting on it, probably too many of the Xanga Bloggers are too young to remember old Elvis, but he was really popular a long long time ago, trust me.)
Next I disappeared my “Bollywood Page”, also from “ElectricMovies”. It had two musical numbers from the Indian musical, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” I still have some of the “Mini” clips on “ElectricMovies” but the idea for that site has always been to include clips, and they take up lots of server space!
What’s funny (or sad, depending upon point of view) is that I couldn’t even put up the revised pages with the deleted links, because I was so overloaded, so for a while there were pages pointing to dead air, but now I do have the revised pages up, and was even able to upload the Dave Edmunds mp3 for this week’s Theme Song. (The plan is to “rotate” somewhat eclectic music so that there will always be something “new” in addition to the posts here, which include new artwork, as well, like the Narcissistic image that begins this post.
)So far I just removed older pages with large movie files attached. I still have “Painted Desert Dreams”, my latest MikeVideo, online. But earlier in the year, I had to delete “Beach Dreams”. I’ll have to take down “Desert” when I create the latest “Renaissance Day” which is the next one I’m planning, since my friend Jim hasn’t provided me with any new music. (The Renaissance Faire videos have musical performances.)
Week Two of Jury Duty has ended. The Plaintiff has rested his case. The Defense was to have begun his presentation on Monday, but due to an emergency, we don’t go in to Court again till Tuesday. I start to get bored and itchy to go back in to work full time sometime in the middle of the second week. I won’t be able to go into work, even in the mornings, as I have been, when we start deliberations, if we have to start at 8am like when I was at Airport Court a few years back.
Cancerboy went in for the beginning of his third set of chemo treatments last Wed. I’ve been joking with him that he could be a Chemo Poster Boy. He hasn’t lost any hair, nor become nauseous, nor gotten sick at all. He is in good spirits, and has returned to work. I should probably begin the second in the Cancerboy Series of poems soon.
Well, let’s see what other back alleys of my website I can DESTROY!

Mike, one of our favorite trips was a semi-regular one we made in February each year to Quartzite, Arizona. We loved it out there and had a lot of friends who would set up to sell at the rock and gem shows. We made the trip with several purposes in mind, the visit with friends in Quartzite plus relatives in Barstow California, the same realtives condo in LasVegas where we would enjoy a little playing with the one arm bandits and then a cousin in Albuquerque and of couse we would never miss Gallop. So much of your Desert Dreams video reminded us of our trips. It was fun to watch.. Thanks for steering me to it.
Also, JibJab, I have been enjoying that site for several years and have downloaded some of their things. I love the two old black guys fishing. Great stuff.
I have always known the internet was not going to be the dream place we all wanted it to be. I fully expect it to cost more in the very near future for all involved. I don’t think it is making the money everything wanted it to make, how could it when you have a world of business at your fingertips. I love computing and I love the internet but, myself, I prefert to shop at home where I can see what I am buying. We do spend some on the internet but not nearly what I think some do. I kind of like taking care of and helping the locals to survive.
About some of those shops you photographed in your Desert Dreams, in Gallop, a lot of the really fine appearing shops are Arab owned now. I think we were in ever shop on all main drags for several days and I almost know them in my mind inside and out. I was amazed our American Indian shops could be Arab owned and, If I wasnt something Aram made, I don’t mind buying from them but, not my native american things. I want to know where my money went and if it’s Native American, I want the money to go there. We had a favorite restaurant near the expressway in Gallop we loved to go to and eat. The Indian children would come in with the wares from their families. It was great to experience it. They had some great green chili soup/stew also.
Dear Mike, Little E, gave you one of the longest comments I’ve ever seen on Xanga. Thanks for visiting my site. I like JibJab too but did not have all that fine information you presented. Glad you liked the poem. Is it bad to post it twice? I don’t know all of the ethics on the web.
Wow, what a visual feast it is to visit your site! I could spend a thousand years here and not see it all. You are super talented Mike. I am so glad you breezed by my site so I could in turn breeze by yours!
Jury duty, huh? I have served twice. My last sentence was served back in Oct ’03′. We earn $15 per day. How much do you make in Ca.? Parking in downtown Cleveland is $12.50 per day. And we are required to serve a minimum of 5 days. Thank goodness I work for a huge company which supplements my wages while on jury duty.
