  • Symphony for One

     Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

    January 1, 1983 7:30 p.m.

    Hey girl, come on along,
Jump on the wagon feed the dragon
    sing the song.
    The melody might be different
But the words sure sound the same
    I may look different
    Don’t sound different
    Call my name.

If you can see through magic
If you can walk on air
My love for you’s not static
    There’s a certain feeling there
    A movement for piano
    A string quartet for two
    You can be my music
Let me play a song or two.

    Hey friends, come on along
Kick off your shoes you paid your dues
    join in the song.
    Arrangements may be haughty
But the words sure sound alike
    We’ve shed all sorrow
    Look towards tomorrow
    and the like.

    Hey today, I’m ecstatic
Sing out the news express my views
    may be erratic
You might just be the answer
Though I only see you through a veil
    Do you in fact exist
    A dancer in the mist
    what a tale.

If a future can frown at a lifetime
And a past close its back door to me
I will love you for now and the meantime
I will feel your genteel ecstasy
    A poem for the moment
    Well versed in love’s harmony
    Prove to me no illusion
    Open your arms to me.

    Hey sweetheart, come on along
Jump on the wagon feed the dragon
    hear my song
Your face might be just so different
But my dreams remain the same
    I may be different
    But I don’t sound different
    call my name.

    “Where Jesus Walks”

    Poetry by Michael F. Nyiri

    April 5th , 2004 8:54 p.m. pdt

I read the news again today
Snapshots of a world gone astray
Lost and lonely pleas for sanity
    Overstuffed political vanity
    Gruesome images
    And terrible words
    Insane retribution
    Completely absurd
It’s all too much, too overbearing
Has humanity lost the need for caring?
I seem to have read the same news before
Calamitous carnage, seared through the core
Will Jesus be welcome when he returns?
Will he witness strife as mankind burns?
    Peace be with my savior
    As I offer my hand
For I don’t have any answers
But I’ve got to make a stand
Where Jesus Walks we must be aware
We must have a heart, and we must truly care
Where Jesus Walks is a world torn apart
    A world needing hope,
    A world shaking new start.
I read the news again today
Where Jesus Walks the lambs and lions play

(A couple of poems for a Sunday Morning. EDIT: A strange thing happened to me on my way to transcribe some more poetry to my server. The ftp program tells me it cannot “put” anymore HTML, images, etc. on to the server. I deleted some MP3 files and tried again. No luck. Now I’ve got some broken links on ElectricPoetry I know I am close to the capacity of the server for the nearly 250 bux it takes me a year to maintain AllthingsMIke. I can’t afford to add more space, but will look into it. I just added the Justice pages last week, and some of the old Komedy pages since I have mentioned them in this blog, but I think I shall have to start removing sections of the site, if this is indeed the problem, and then try to maintain the updating of ElectricPoetry again.  MFN)

  • Two excellent posts. I’m especially fond of ‘Symphony for One.” It took my mind away for a bit, and I like that in poetry. Peace.

  • I enjoyed both poems ….they are very rich in the clarity of your second attention…

would you be interested in allowing me to add the second one to my post today?…I think it will add a bunch to the post.

  • Both were- well, I’ll let the emoticons say it for me… ::lookaround::):goodjob:
